"I have dealt with this company in the past. The service and product are very good. I recently wanted a blind similar to ones purchased a few years ago for another room. The selection is good. These blinds roll up and are easy to clean. The salesperson was knowledgeable."

"I called Window Genie about cleaning my windows and they sent out someone to give me an estimate. He gave me an estimate to clean my windows and pressure wash the house. I asked about cleaning the screens and he told me that it was included with the pressure washing (otherwise it's a $2 per window charge if you don't get the pressure washing). When they came to perform the work, one person came in the house to start on the windows and the other person started pressure washing. When he started on the windows he took the screens out so they never got cleaned because he took them out before the guy pressure washing got to them. Also when he took the screens out, all the dust, grass, etc got all over my floors because he never wiped the frame of the screen clean. And he never cleaned the window sills. He did a good job on the windows but the screens were never cleaned or the window sills. When they got done pressure washing there were several spots they missed and they didn't pressure wash my front steps. The next day when the office called to get my credit card number for payment I told her about these problems. She told me it was an extra $2 charge to clean the window sills. She also asked me if I wanted them to come back out to get the spots they missed pressure washing. Of course I wanted them to come back out and finish the job that wasn't done right the first time. When they came back out they came inside and cleaned the screens first. They must have wiped them down with a wet rag because they never really took them outside and washed them. Once again there was stuff all over my floors that I had to clean up after they left. And my window sills on the inside were really dirty also. When they got done pressure washing they asked me to come outside and look at it. Once again I had to point out spots they still missed. I asked them about pressure washing behind my bushes and they told me that was the cleanest it would come. Not at all pleased with Window Genie and would never hire them again."

"I was on the market for a security system and this one seemed easy enough to install.......went through the process and some of the window sensors were not working. I called Customer Support who was very friendly and we went through the entire process again...this time other window sensors did not work. This went on for a week or so...then the door senors stopped working....than the motion sensor stopped working...at no time in over a month did I have a fully operational security system. As I was about to return the system I was told they have "new" sensors and they just realized they received a bad batch and are working with another company.....Gave it a try....and same issue returned....some sensors worked....some didn't. I finally returned the system and stopped getting emails.....only to find that they were still billing my credit card even after I returned the equipment. Very nice people and very understanding.....unfortunately their product is not up to par. While we do have a large home, it's an open concept and the sensors that weren't working were no more than 15ft away from the base. The previous owners of my house had a wireless system with no issues at all.....I'm going to be using that company going forward."

Hurricane Film questions, answered by experts

Yes, professionals handle emergency tree removals and storm damage cleanup.

Yes, home insurance coverage includes hail damage. An HO-1 insurance policy offers the most basic coverage for homeowners. In every homeowners’ insurance policy, the insurer includes a list of perils (or dangers) that you’re covered from, and HO-1 policies almost always include protection against hail and windstorms as well as other perils like fire, lightning, and vandalism. All you need to do is file a homeowners insurance claim, and your insurer will send you a check for the amount covered.

Tipping roofers, even for emergency roof repairs, isn’t really expected. However, it can be a very nice gesture, especially if the roofer is saving your home from extensive damage. Tips don’t need to be in the form of money, either. You can make them a meal or bring them coffee—these gestures are often more appreciated as they’re more personal than cash.

In most cases, yes, you should fix hail damage to your roof. For asphalt roofs that experience hail damage, the shingles can crack and tear from impact, potentially exposing the underlayment and other building material underneath to water and pests. You might save an average of $1,100 by neglecting repairs, but water damage can cost significantly more. Even on a metal roof, where penetration isn’t a concern, the dents hail can leave behind can detract from your curb appeal, potentially making your home less valuable.

High winds can be harmful to casement windows and all types of windows. Because casement windows can swing outward, high winds could slam the window against the side of the house, bend the hinges, or even rip the window off of the hinges. If you hear some strong gusts outside, it’s best to pull the casement windows shut until it all blows over.
