"Amanda was very pleasant to work with, and promptly emailed a quote to me with the date/time of my appointment and instructions. We were having our entire two-story house cleaned (along with the master BR walk-in closet) and a few rooms protected, and I felt the price was reasonable. Communication was excellent. Brad arrived right at my appointment time and went to work. He was professional and attentive to detail. I have used other carpet cleaning services before, who seemed to leave me with very wet carpet when they left. I was amazed at how dry my carpet was by the next morning! My carpet looks so much better, and I will definitely use Finesse Carpet & Tile Cleaning Again. Thanks, Brad and Amanda!"

"Nigel did an amazing job on our kitchen backsplash. We chose a difficult, irregular-shaped tile, and he handled it with skill and precision, making it look effortless. His attention to detail and quality of work really stand out. We couldn’t be happier with the final result and would highly recommend him!"

"The main work was installing and grouting back splash tiles. Other work included painting, installing stove vent and duct, replacing lighting, replacing kitchen sink, and replacing electric receptacles. He also removed and hauled away the old counter top. The new counter was installed by another party. Steve's work lasted about 5 days in total, but there was over a week of wait time for the new counter top installation. Steve's work is clean and professional. He assisted us in buying all of the necessary materials. He is a pleasant person to work with. We have hired him for other projects and will gladly hire him again."

Ceramic Tile questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can tile over existing shower tiles, but it's better to remove the old tiles first for the best results. Tiling over existing tiles requires a clean, level surface and proper adhesion. If the old tiles are in good condition, you can roughen the surface to improve adhesion. However, removing the old tiles ensures a smoother, longer-lasting finish and prevents potential issues down the line.

Professionals can enhance bathroom aesthetics by recommending and implementing design elements such as modern fixtures, high-quality tiles, and efficient layouts. They ensure cohesive style, compliment functionality, and an enhanced visual appeal in the space.

No, you don’t need to remove the old grout before installing new tile over existing tile. In fact, the old grout helps fill in gaps between tiles, creating a more even surface for the new layer. However, it's important to ensure that the grout is clean, solid, and free of cracks or crumbling areas. Damaged grout should be repaired or replaced before proceeding. Cleaning the surface thoroughly and filling any low spots will help the new adhesive bond properly and ensure a smooth, stable installation.

Bathrooms are naturally moisture-rich environments, so choose a durable, water-resistant tile for your tub surround. Porcelain and ceramic are two popular options that are also quite affordable. Glass is another good option that’s also low-maintenance—you just need a glass cleaner like you would use on the bathroom mirror. Natural stone tile is porous, but it’s still a viable option if you choose it in a glazed version.

The best trowel for penny tile is a 3/16-inch-by-5/32-inch V-notch trowel. Because of the small size of the penny tile, you want a trowel with small notches that can lay a thin layer of mortar on the surface you’re tiling. If the notches are too wide, you risk applying too thick of a layer of mortar, and it can squeeze out between the penny tiles.
