"Wonderful to work with! I found I needed a new roof, and it was my first big home upgrade purchase. This company was very easy to work with provided clear guidance on what needed to be done, how long it would take, and my options for financing. Never did I imagine I could get a new roof in a day! It has been well tested with all the rain and has been wonderful so far. Definitely recommended!"

"We had a reference from a neighbor about this company, rebuilding a new dock for them on our residential lake. Our dock was over 40 yrs+.Our neighbor called me to see the work that they were in the process of what they had done.Man it was AWESOME..The owner of this Co came to our house to give us an estimate for Totally removing our dock,+removeing a railroad retaining wall,an replaceing both...We had an estimate within 2 days..We were on a limited time frame because our community had dropped the lake to where people could have work done on there docks.. Let me tell ya the neighbors dock was Masterpiece,an was finished!! "Trevor has been an amazing contractor who has helped us through the process of installing a large interior door for an office. He has helped ensure the space was properly prepared for installation of the door. The other contractors who have assisted Trevor have also exceeded my expectations. They have been extremely detail oriented and have done everything to ensure the best outcome. I would definitely work with Trevor for any future projects."

Siding questions, answered by experts

You should restain or refinish your home's cedar siding every three to seven years to maintain its appearance and ensure maximum protection. The precise frequency depends on several factors, including your local climate, the siding's exposure to severe weather like direct sunlight, rain, and wind, the quality of the initial stain application, the type of stain used, and the condition of the wood.

Homeowners in harsh climates with high humidity and significant direct sunlight should plan on restaining every three years, while those in milder locations can wait up to seven years. For the longest-lasting protection in particularly harsh environments, consider using an opaque stain.

If you're looking for a lower-maintenance alternative, vinyl or aluminum siding are options to consider. Although their installation cost may be higher, they don't require as much upkeep over time, which can provide more value, especially in areas with excessive rainfall or high humidity.

As stunning and natural as stone siding is, it's not for everyone. Some popular siding alternatives to stone siding include:

  • Aluminum siding

  • Brick veneer siding

  • Engineered wood siding

  • Fiber cement siding

  • Wood siding

  • Vinyl siding

If you want the look of natural stone siding without the high material and installation costs, vinyl siding may be one of the best alternatives. It’s lightweight, low-cost, and low maintenance but does have a lower life span than natural stone.

You can put new siding over clapboards, but it’s not recommended. Some sidings, like vinyl siding, can go over clapboards with sheathing like a foam layer in between. However, it’s best to remove clapboard siding if you plan on replacing it with new siding. Burying wood clapboards underneath new siding can create risks of rot and mold, or hidden insect damage. It can also create warping issues over time. Removing clapboards allows you to properly install a new sheathing, as well as clean up the exterior wall and look for any signs of damage.

The cost to install board and batten siding averages between $2.50 and $12.50 per square foot, including labor and materials. Major cost factors of this project include the square footage, the siding material, and the local labor rates. Additional costs include the number of windows and doors, the height of the home, and the painting or staining you want done to the siding.

A self-etching primer is the best option for aluminum siding. These are specifically designed to bond with bare metals, among other surfaces, leading to better adhesion and corrosion resistance. An oil-based primer is a good alternative if you can’t find a self-etching primer.
