Small jobs welcome

"Very professional and friendly. I had a tight deadline due to an open house coming up and they had no issues getting it done well ahead of time. My deck now looks basically brand new. They also did a hallway and staircase for me and everything looks wonderful. Couldnâ t be happier"

"We found this crew of 3 brothers to be a real pleasure to work with. We got a quote from them and 4 others companies. From that 1st meeting, we just felt like they were the kind of people we wanted for our project. They spent time asking questions and giving us information about what we could or could not expect our results to be. Details were discussed that no one else had took the time to do. Our building is older and needed some serious prep work before the painting and these guys really took care of that. They worked really hard and spent a lot of time to make sure it would look good before putting the paint on. They made it look better than we imagined it possibly could. All the details and little things I asked for were done without any shortcuts or complaints. They were professional, friendly and easy to work with. We would definitely recommend them to anyone and will plan to call them again for any future work.

We removed all old wood siding, then we sheathed with plywood and put on new wood siding, primed and painted two sides of the house then we scraped, sanded ,primed , caulked and painted the rest of the house. We also put new tongue & groove pine boards on ceiling under the porch then stained it.

"Initially, I had requested a bid to pressure wash and reseal what I knew was a VERY old deck, hoping to get one or maybe two more seasons out of it. Steven called me after he arrived to work up a bid and was very upfront and honest about the fact that the deck was not in good enough condition to attempt. Not being overly surprised, I asked him if he would bid on the reskin. He did, quickly, encouraging me to get several comparable bids for such a big job. It is a BIG deck; two levels, two sets of stairs; a lot of railing. After a couple of weeks, we began. Steven and his crew showed up every time they said they would, he always communicated if they were running late. As to be expected with a 25+ year old deck, there were some hidden issues that revealed themselves as the project developed. Steven was quick to call me, tell me what they'd found (mostly hidden damage/rot), explain the fix and what the increased cost would be, offered alternatives where possible, and was very respectful of my budget. Even with several days lost to storms and rain, they finished quickly and I could not be happier with my "new" deck. I will call them in the future and you should not hesitate to hire Steven and his crew. Highly recommend. Some before and after pictures are attached."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

When applying multiple coats, wait four to six hours for each coat to dry. Not waiting long enough can result in streaks, peeling, and uneven color. Plus, it will be more difficult to discern where the second coat has already been applied.

The best paint for an older deck depends on the material and whether or not your deck already has a coat of paint. Generally, if your deck already has paint on it, you should choose the same type of paint when repainting the deck. For example, if an old deck has oil-based paint on it, stick with oil; if your deck has water-based paint, choose water-based paint.

The best way to protect a deck is to prevent damage from UV light, water, mold, mildew, insects, and abrasive cleaning methods. Sweep regularly to prevent debris that hides bugs and traps moisture that can result in mold or mildew growth. Use a deck cleaner once a year to remove algae, mold, and mildew. Avoid using pressure washers on high, as they can damage the wood. Applying a deck sealant can protect the wood from UV and water damage, and adding shade can also reduce sunlight damage.

Limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces if you apply them correctly. Use on non-suitable surfaces can cause issues. For instance, applying limewash or whitewash to surfaces with existing sealants or incompatible materials may lead to poor adhesion or flaking. Also, harsh cleaning agents on limewashed or whitewashed surfaces can damage the finish. Proper preparation, application, and maintenance ensure that limewash and whitewash do not harm surfaces.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.
