"I had an excellent experience with Larson roofing. They were able to fit me in only a couple of days after he came out and gave me the quote. The crew showed up on time and worked very hard throughout the day replacing my shingles in less than 2 days. Had it not been for the early morning rain on the day they were to begin they likely would have had the job done in one day. Adam and his crew were friendly and respectful knowledgeable and were able to answer any questions I had. Larson roofing gave me the lowest quote of the three roofing companies I contacted and was able to start work earlier than the other two companies. When an unexpected rain shower showed up early in the evening of the first day Mr Larson came out personally to make sure that the roof was covered well and would not be harmed by the rain. Very professional. I highly recommend them and would call them again."

"Elmer, the owner was fair in pricing and performance. Completed my garage in just a few hours including removing an old, leaking stove pipe. That required repairing the hole where the stove pipe was removed. Cleaned up completely . Good job ."

"Just had my roof v competently replaced by the J W Const crew. Less than a week btwn call-for-estimate to job-done and wd have been done sooner but I dragged my feet making up my mind. Johnâ s estimate was Not the least expensive one I got but Iâ ve gone the cheap route before and lived to regret it. The roof had several soft spots left by an inferior job done about 12 years ago. Unfortunate decision but J Wâ s crew found and fixed them before covering with sheeting and shingles. Iâ m an avid gardener and had concerns about how my plants and evergreens were going to fare with the â big men in their big bootsâ . But the J W Const crew diligently tarped and avoided my babies. I even have a muskmelon vine close to the work area that still has all of its 7 melons intact! Thanks a bunch, J W Construction!"

Roofing questions, answered by experts

A roof replacement can take anywhere from one to 14 days. For most homes, a full replacement that includes tearing off old materials takes about one to two days, though the average project can last up to 12 days. The exact timeline depends on several factors, including the roof's size and complexity, the type of roofing material, the crew size, and weather conditions. Certain materials take longer to install; for example, metal roofs can take seven to 14 days because the material is more difficult to work with than asphalt shingles, wood, or tile. A re-roofing project, where new shingles are installed over old ones, can take half the time or less. It's also important to factor in the time needed to obtain necessary permits. A professional roofing contractor will typically complete the job faster than a DIY approach.

You should avoid choosing a metal roof if your home has a weak structural support system, as metal roofs can be heavier than roofs made of other materials. If you're in a region prone to frequent hailstorms or high winds, you also need to be aware that denting may occur.

Yes, a roof blister can cause a leak if it gets to the point where it pops. Prior to popping, a roof blister is just an aesthetic issue, but once it pops, you’re left with a small hole in the shingle. Water from rain and snow can easily get inside this hole and interact with your underlayment, roof decking, and the building material below.

The installation may have been done correctly. However, improperly installed gutter guards can easily damage your shingles. Also, cheap gutter guards rarely come with installation fixtures. In the worst cases, they simply ask you to nail the guards in, which would sabotage your roof’s water resistance and thus void the warranty. To be sure, always check with your home warranty provider before making any modifications.

The best way to prevent wind damage to your roof, especially if you live in an area prone to hurricanes, tropical storms, or tornadoes, is to invest in a roofing product with high wind resistance. Look for the ASTM D3161 and ASTM D7158 ratings to see the specific wind speeds your roofing product can withstand. Impact-resistant shingles have the highest wind resistance ratings and will give you the best chance of avoiding wind damage.
