"Very pleasant. Very careful with landscaping, covered everything so it wouldn't get paint on it. Non-intrusive, no requests to come in the house, Showed up when they said they would. Replaced some rotten wood for a small extra feel. I am very pleased and would recommend them highly."

"Marvin contacted me immediately and we were able to schedule a time to review my house painting project. These guys were able to complete the prep and painting in only 3 days! His price was reasonable and the quality was very good. There was a few spots that I had to point out that needed additional prep and paint. However, they were able to take care of these. Additionally, they painted some trim and doors that were not in my original scope of work. I was very satisfied with their work!"

Customers say: Quick response

"When I lived in Vermillion SD, John did all of my remodeling projects from 1994-2016. These included totally gutting and finishing my kitchen; finishing a basement to include a den, bedroom, bath, and laundry room; and replacing the exterior siding and trim on my 1974 house. He is an amazing carpenter/craftsman. He is easy to work with and comes up with creative solutions to problems. He comes at a moment when notice when emergencies arise and his rate is extremely reasonable. I highly recommend John for any addition or remodeling project."

Painting questions, answered by experts

Yes, you can paint a chain-link fence, but you don’t want to use spray paint. With the spray method, you’ll be losing a majority of your product to the air, given the size of the gaps in chain-link fences. Instead, use a paintbrush for your fence posts and a paint roller for the wire.

Painting or staining protects fences from environmental damage, enhances durability, and improves curb appeal with a fresh, customized look.

Stain is meant to be absorbed by the porous wood, allowing some of the natural grain to show through. With that in mind, you don’t want to add more stain than the wood can absorb, as you risk covering up its natural markings. Generally, two coats is the maximum you should do, although very dense hardwoods may only be able to take a single coat.

Yes, you can limewash surfaces other than brick. Plaster, stone, stucco, and concrete can all also be limewashed. Any porous surface that will absorb the wash is a good candidate for limewash, although it won’t help much with waterproofing. If you choose to limewash over paint, you’ll need to prep before applying it to avoid a powdery, chalky finish. Shiny surfaces like metal or glass can’t absorb limewash, so it’s not suited for these.

Typically, a fence requires one to two coats of stain. The exact number can vary depending on the porosity of the wood. For specific guidance, it's best to check the manufacturer's instructions. After applying the first coat and letting it dry completely, you can assess the finish. If it appears patchy, uneven, or you want a more saturated color, a second coat is recommended. An extra coat can also help cover lap marks.
