"I responded to a flyer that I received from ADT as I had been thinking  about installing a security system for extra peace of mind as I am a single woman living alone.  It sounded like a deal that was too good to pass up.  I did not realize until I did some research later that ADT subcontracts all of their installation out to local providers so I am not sure which parts of this review should be directed at ADT vs Protect your Home...who provided the installation service but it is clear that their business practices have  common core and most of my interaction has been with Protect Your Home.  Apparently, after 3 months Protect your Home is no longer responsible for my system and after some research I am starting to wonder what will happen when ADT becomes responsible for addressing any issues with my system if there is no local service provider.
Here's an overview of my experience. It was easy to set up the appointment and the installers arrived right on time.  I want to state that my low grade has nothing to do with my overall experience with the installers who came out and installed my system.  They were friendly and courteous and very professional in completing the install. Nor am I dissatisfied (for the most part) with the system that has been installed. However, the reason that I would not recommend Protect your Home is that I  do have a problem with the sales tactics that they use which I have to believe come via ADT and then through the local installer Protect Your Home.  I was definitely oversold and my monthly premium is too high and much higher than I was initially quoted.  I am also locked in for 3 years which is  too long and should be unnecessary if your product is worth the cost. I believe there are better ways to set up business practices so that your salespeople are not so dependent on the commission they receive from a sale.
After evaluating my home my installer did some neat number tricks (this is sarcasm) to give me an estimate that was supposed to convince me that getting the highest upgrade was actually going to be the best deal for me after all of the credits had been applied.  I didn't really buy it but at that point I didn't completely understand all the components and the implications.  I was also prepared to invest in a security system and could also see the value in most of the parts of the system.  I ended up agreeing and the installation was completed that night.  I'm not sure what would have happened if I had asked to think about my options...my installer was a smooth talker and knew how to take advantage of me as a single woman.  Over the next few days as I reviewed the contract and started using my system I realized that I did not need the security camera or the supposedly handy clicker for disarming and arming the system that was supposed to be a bonus but was listed at $150 on my invoice.   The clicker is pretty much useless if you go with the Pulse system and can control the entire system from your iPhone. I also thought my monthly premium was higher than it should be.  I called ADT to inquire and the rep told me that I could return any equipment for a refund for 30 days.  I was also quoted a monthly rate that was lower if the camera was returned.  They set up an appointment for my installer to come out to collect the equipment that I did not want.   However, when the installer came back out he contradicted the information that I had received from ADT.  At that point I didn't argue and didn't want to deal with the frustration of navigating between all these parties so I kept my camera, my unused clicker, and have a higher monthly premium than I believe I should have.
As a customer I would be much more likely to recommend this company if you set up your practice so that your salespeople came out for an initial evaluation and clearly explained the options and pricing. THEN, gave the customer time to consider the options and choose the system that best suits their needs.  Yes, it takes more time but now that I have done some additional research I understand from first hand experience why ADT has lost credibility to other home security providers.  Until this changes I would recommend that anyone looking for home security system do their research before setting up an appointment with ADT based on their name value alone.
Finally, I also have yet to receive my $100 VISA gift card which required extra hoops to jump through in order to have it sent out.  I sincerely hope that both companies consider their business practices and make some changes or I definitely be considering another company when I move and/or at the end of my contract."

"First, I am a paid member and get unlimited services for a year. The
cost you pay for a years membership is nothing, compared to other
companies out there. If you want 24 X 7 available assistance not just
for your computer but visit their site and find out how many things
Geekatoo works on, you'll be surprised and pleased.
Youhave to down
load Team Viewer. You simply open chat box in Geekatoo, supply the
information from Team Viewer for the technician to remotely fix your
computer. You will also have to supply your Microsoft pass codeas well.
Don't be concerned with giving out this information, as the technicians
are extremely professional.  I have had the service for about 6 months
and I have had them look at my computer at least 7 times. Not an issue
with Geekatoo.
The technician will communicate with you via chat
on Team Viewer. They will tell you when they are going to begin work.
All you do is walk away and let them work. Since Geekatoo is so thorough
the whole process will take at least 2 - 3 hours. You have sincere
professionals working on your computer to resolve your issues, not
someone looking at the clock and charging you $150 / hour.
Getting
a yearly membership is the most cost effective, but if you want to try
them out, you can pay for individual service. I think virus removal
would run you around $129  A years Green membership is $179.00  Plus you
get service for up to 3 devices at that price ! Services Included:
Computer Repair & Tech Support, Networking, WiFI and Internet,
Mobile, Smartphones and Tablets, TV and Audio (Except TV Mounting),
Smart Lock, Smart Home Hub, Sprinkler, Video Doorbell, Home Theater,
Device Help, Laptop, Printer, Router, Cell Phone, Wearable
Geekatoo
is the best money I've ever spent for computer repair. Many times the
technician has also called me at home to see if the computer is working,
and if there is anything else that they can do. How many companies
these days actually care about their customers ? It's common sense
business, with common sense technicians. What else could you ask for ?
Without hesitation, when my contract expires I will immediately re-new without hesitation.
Everyone
need their computer worked on from time to time. Why not have a proven
company, with 24 X 7 access for a reasonable fee be the on call computer
specialist for your worry-free on line experience? You're right, there
isn't any viable reason.
Geekatoo is my Geek to go to !

"The last was a rental company that we have and we used them for an air conditioning and heating system. It was Bototach Mechanical. It’s been a good program for us. They’re very responsive. I don’t know what the thought process was. My husband said, well let’s try these guys and so we did. We have an older home and it’s proved to be a very good deal. The quality has been pretty good, so I would give them an A for the quality. I will give you one helpful hint though. If the company decides they want to replace an appliance, you need to call them and negotiate with them because you can upgrade, but you need to talk to them in person not just do it over the internet."

Home Security Systems questions, answered by experts

It depends on the type of sensor your home security system uses. If it’s a motion detector, any moving thing could set it off, from a roaming pet to a wind-blown curtain. Contact sensors would be triggered by the window being opened or moved. Also, be aware that any sensors placed too close to your vents could trigger false alarms whenever your heat or air conditioning is running.

Security camera prices vary widely, with individual cameras typically ranging from $125 to $450 on average, not including professional installation costs. The camera's quality also impacts what you pay. Expect to pay more for desirable features, including a resolution of 1080p or higher, a field of view over 110 degrees, and enhanced night vision. Remember, your out-of-pocket installation cost will increase significantly when purchasing a complete system to cover your property inside and out.

Some but not all security cameras have monthly fees, depending on the specific camera system and the services offered with it, especially monitored vs. unmonitored security systems. Home security companies that offer monitoring services along with cameras will charge a monthly fee for monitoring and possibly for using the security cameras. Cameras that you monitor yourself as part of your own security system will not have monthly fees charged.

There are a number of ways to secure windows. You can add motion detectors or window sensors to detect movement and impact or change the window locks to make them stronger. Some of the ways you can secure windows are much like how you secure a home: closing the curtains at night and setting up security cameras outside so you can monitor your property even in your absence.

Smart deadbolts are a worthwhile investment for homeowners seeking more convenience, flexibility, and advanced features than a traditional deadbolt can provide. While a strong conventional deadbolt offers sufficient security for most, smart deadbolts provide significant upgrades.

Key benefits include keyless entry via smartphone, keypads, or biometric sensors, and the ability to lock or unlock your door remotely. You can also manage access for guests by creating temporary codes, eliminating the need for physical keys and the risk of them being lost or duplicated. Many models integrate with smart home systems and offer features like automatic locking, entry-exit monitoring, and tamper alerts with encryption for enhanced security.

However, there are downsides to consider. Smart deadbolts are more expensive than their traditional counterparts and rely on batteries and wireless networks to function. This dependency introduces potential vulnerabilities, such as hacking by skilled intruders and privacy concerns. Installation can also be more complex. Despite these drawbacks, the added layer of convenience and protection makes them a compelling option for many.
