Movers showed up on date given. We were notified a few days before and also 20 minutes before they arrived. Very professional in protecting piano as well as bench and piano stool. This was old piano of sentimental value as our mother taught on and was sent back to my sister to keep in family. When moving truck pulled up to her house in Utah, my sister said she had tears in her eyes, remembering back when mom taught her, and seeing the old piano and stool she used to spin on after practicing. Modern Piano Movers delivered as professional and picked up notifying them before delivery. Would definitely use them again if needed.

The whole experience was excellent! Growing up I had several nightmare-worthy moving experiences but working with Mini Movers was a huge relief. They packed everything into the moving van professionally and with care and worked quickly to get the job done even though it was a hot summer day. The movers were all very nice and polite people and knew what they were doing.

These guys are fantastic! We needed two pods unloaded. They listened to our instructions about things to be aware of how they were packed and should be unloaded for safety, items to watch for, and where things should go. They verified those instructions and double checked as needed. I had color coded the boxes when we packed and put up matching colored papers around the doorways so they knew where various boxes should go. But, some of the descriptions did not match the color codes. These guys were paying attention to those labels and came to me several times to double check where certain boxes should really go. They were constantly communicating with one another when carrying large, heavy objects making sure the other was aware of door frames, overhead clearance, etc. They were acutely aware of surroundings and cautious to not ding either our furniture or our home. There were a couple items that they were worried they may have damaged and came to us right away. We knew that the marks were there before we moved, but we appreciated their concern. Because we were unloading Pods, it was difficult to schedule an actual time for them to arrive because we didn't know until the night before what time they would arrive. We penciled a time with these guys then I called in the morning as soon as it arrived. I was able to be flexible but was pleased they were able to fit us in earlier than what we had scheduled. All three guys were timely, considerate, respectful, friendly, and professional. I don't want to move again, but if I have to, I'll absolutely call them to do the job. We HIGHLY recommend Affordable Moving for your moving and hauling needs! You will be able to breathe easy knowing they will take great care of you and your special belongings!

In the process of this move, I learned a lot about how to hire a moving company: In addition to checking Angie’s list, I contacted the Better Business Bureau and checked Movingscam.com (which has excellent information). Local real estate agents can sometimes make recommendations for good moving companies. I also consulted SaferSys.org, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA) web site, to check on the safety record of the company I chose. My mother, who had lived in Sioux Falls, SD for over sixty years, was planning to move to northern Idaho. She went for a visit and decided to stay, but her belongings were still in Sioux Falls (and her doctor was forbidding air travel because of her blood pressure). So I began to search for a moving company that could transport her belongings. Because she was already in Idaho, she was hoping to have the move occur soon. I contacted numerous national companies, several local companies, and several “you pack” companies that would simply transport the goods. The only companies that could work with her time frame were the “you pack” companies. Because of the location of her apartment, that would have involved hiring a local moving company to transport the belongings to the semi. Then it would have been several weeks before her things would have been delivered to her. Since my mother would not be present, I was planning to pack and supervise the move, but I do not live in Sioux Falls. Several companies would not even talk to me because I could not meet them for an in-home estimate. Mini Movers just happened to be moving another Sioux Falls resident to Boise, Idaho, and would have room on one of the trucks for another small load. They were able to work with our time frame and gave a very reasonable estimate, based on pictures that I sent of my mom’s entire apartment (including storage areas!). Both Michelle and Troy were very willing to answer my questions. Troy was working on another move when I called (he seems to spend much of his time on the road!), but responded to my call. Troy provides replacement coverage (at his cost) for all items in a move, which is far more than most companies provide. We set a loading date for June 25, 2012. Three movers came to the apartment. I had most things packed, but left the kitchen items for them. They had the items packed and the truck loaded in about two hours. My mom’s household items were then stored on the truck until the date of the other person’s move. The actual transport took several days (they dropped off the other household first), and the items were delivered to my mom’s new apartment on July 9. The total bill came to $2915 (we forgot to use the $100 discount from the Mini Mover website). This was significantly less than other movers estimated, anywhere from 50%-65% less than the cost of other movers, and those other movers would not have been able to make the move at a convenient time. There were two items that were damaged: a wall hanging of little monetary but lots of sentimental value, and a large mirror. The mirror was able to be professionally repaired for a very modest cost. Troy agreed to pay $50 for the repair of both, which was entirely satisfactory. We were very satisfied with Mini Movers and very grateful that they were able to move my mom’s belongings. They were gracious, have great insurance, and charged a very reasonable rate. Perhaps part of the reason for the low cost was that my mom’s good were an “add-on” to another move. I would have appreciated a few things done differently. I asked if items could be left in drawers, but they ask that everything be removed. Michelle explained that someone had once left a bowling ball in an upper drawer and, when the load shifted, it smashed through and caused damage. So I understand why they have their policy, but would have liked to leave sweaters, pillows, etc. (lightweight items) in the drawers. The need to pack those items added to my packing time and subsequent unpacking at arrival. I would have appreciated more use of bubble wrap; I used a lot of it and think that, if they had packed the wall hanging in bubble wrap, it would probably not have broken. (I realize that the use of bubble wrap would add to the cost of the move.) I wonder if the mirror could have been better packed also. Finally, we did not hear from Mini Movers during the two weeks that the truck was loaded and in transit. It would have been nice to have occasional updates giving the progress of the move. Despite these minor criticisms, I would recommend Mini Movers wholeheartedly.

We found them through Angie's List. They did a 400 miles trip to San Diego and then moving furniture from San Diego to here is another 400 miles. When they came in, they unloaded everything, placed it wherever we wanted it. They made sure that we were satisfied with all that have been done and then they left. They were very flexible. They were able to get over there, get loaded all in one day and then get back to Phoenix at least the next day and come on in and unload. I thought that was amazing for a place as 400 miles away.

  • Advanced Moving

I couldn't have asked for anything more. I have used Advanced Moving in the past and there was no doubt in my mind about who to have help me move this time around. Everything arrived at my new place undamaged. Dennis and his crew were more than willing to do whatever was asked of them. They put everything right where I asked them too and did it with a smile. They took apart the furniture that could be taken apart for easier (safer) transport and put it all back together when they brought it to the new place. They were very careful with all my stuff and very respectful of my things as well. They worked quickly and efficiently. If you have all your stuff packed up, the cost would be lower but since I had them help me pack up the rest of my stuff the cost was a little higher. Worth every penny to get it done though. I would definitely hire them again if/when I ever move again.

Excellent! HIGHLY recommended! Saved me over a grand. No damage, not even a scratch. Personable movers provide advice without dictating. Really the best experience I have ever had. Only advice I can give...to make it go easier. be ready. when these guys show up....it's all business. They want to do the job right and they don't want to wait for you to decide where things go. Make a plan and call them, they will do whatever it takes to make you happy!!!

Went very well and smoothly considering having to utilize elevators at both locations (3rd floor to 3rd floor). We had one little glitch where a small computer chair was left on the elevator while they were moving a large entertainment unit. Someone else grabbed the elevator while the movers were busy and pushed the chair out on a different floor. Took a couple of days to locate it, but all was fine. Understandably strange occurrence. The movers were very helpful in the search.
