"We hired SCD to install a gazebo kit for us. The gazebo kit had a leaky roof due to ineffective screws. Stephen immediately saw the problem and came up with a fix. Stephen and crew worked hard from getting g materials to doing the installation to make sure we had a quality product. Stephen’s greatest assets are his EXPERIENCE and KNOWLEDGE. "BEWARE, YOU MUST KNOW! We contracted Twin City Construction, LLC early July, 2022 to replace our roof (shingles), facia and replace some rotted plywood. The work was completed July 15, 2022 when we paid him (Jeff Storhaug from Twin City Construction, LLC) the remaining balance. The total bill was $28 300.00. Shortly thereafter we received a notice that a $11,801.12 lien was placed on our property by Builders First Source for non-payment for materials by Jeff Storhaug (Twin City Construction, LLC). We tried numerous times to contact Mr. Storhaug, but were unsuccessful. This debt has since been sent to collections and may negatively affect our good credit for which we have worked very hard to maintain. Prior to this was also our first time ever being debt free as we paid off ALL our debts only to have Jeff Storhaug of Twin City Construction, LLC dishonestly steal away our honest efforts. We have an attorney involved, but the point is, Jeff did not pay his materials provider, so now we are saddled with a debt from a bill we ALREADY PAID to Jeff Storhaug of Twin Cities Construction, LLC."

Yes, if you have an existing deck, an under-deck draining system can be added by retrofitting the system to your existing structure. Several types of porches are available to meet your needs and style preferences. Some common porch types include:

  • Porticos are essentially a roof over a walkway leading to the home's front entrance. 

  • Sunrooms are closed-in porches that are an extension of the house with glass or plastic panels that allow optimal sunlight. 

  • Wraparound porches extend around the entire home, or at least the front and one side, and offer multiple entrances to the house.

  • Back porches are an extension of the home’s floor into the outdoors. These offer more protection and privacy than a deck.

PVC decking can get slippery when wet because it’s made from plastic. However, composite and wood decking can also be slippery when wet. It’s best to wear shoes with grippy soles when walking on a wet deck, no matter the material, and to be extra cautious not to slip and fall down.

While the chemical, copper-based coating on pressure-treated wood offers protection from rot and pests, it’s not a silver bullet. An added sealant will help protect the wood further, though sometimes the wood is treated in a way that causes premature failure, and this is largely out of your control. It’s simply a case of bad luck. Regularly inspect all your house’s wood to look for any cracks or signs of mold and mildew. Getting ahead of the problem is the key to ensuring it doesn’t grow out of control.

Painting a damaged pool deck is not recommended if the substrate is crumbling, cracking, spalling, or otherwise actively deteriorating. Continuing deterioration will result in the paint also delaminating or flaking off the damaged surface. Minor damage such as chips or hairline cracks that are not actively deteriorating can often be repaired enough to paint over. A damaged pool deck with a lot of cracking and deterioration should be replaced for best results.
