"They couldn't deliver, they specified items that after months of waiting, they could never deliver. In the mean time, they directed me to have plumbing rough and done, and then when they couldn't deliver the system for which the plumbing was done, I now have to spend several thousand dollars having the plumbing redone for another system that I found out on my own. The design was okay, some of their ideas were spot on, some of them were way off but ultimately they just couldn't deliver after holding $10,000 of my money for over 2 months. A gurgling toilet usually doesn’t mean that your septic tank is full. If waste can’t drain into a full septic tank, you’ll see water and sewage backing up into your fixtures, but the air that causes gurgling is a result of poor venting. You are more likely to have a clog in your vent stack or a damaged air admittance valve.
It is okay to use a drain auger on a toilet, just make sure you are using the correct tip size. The auger is a plumbing snake with a protective sleeve to protect the porcelain toilet bowl from getting scratched. Using too large of an auger can cause the snake to loop back and damage the inside of the drain and plumbing.
Signs that your shower valve has gone bad include a variety of issues with water flow and temperature. Common symptoms are low water pressure, inconsistent water temperature, and dripping or leaking from the handle or showerhead when the water is off. You might also notice that the knob is difficult to turn or won't turn at all. Another key indicator of a bad diverter valve is water coming from both the tub spout and the showerhead simultaneously, or being unable to switch the water flow between the two fixtures. In advanced cases, the water may not turn on at all. These are all signs that the valve may need to be replaced.
You’ll need two sizes of pipe to plumb a bathroom. You’ll use a 1/2-inch pressure pipe for your supply lines that run from the fixture to the larger 3/4-inch supply lines that run through the house. For drain lines, you’ll need a 3-inch PVC pipe for your toilet, a 2-inch PVC pipe for stand-alone showers, and a 1 1/2-inch pipe for a shower/tub combo and the bathroom sink. Each fixture’s drain will run to the 3-inch main drain that runs through the house.
The size of the pipe you use for your shower depends on the part of the shower you’re installing. Shower drainpipes have a 2-inch diameter, and the water supply lines (both hot and cold) have a ½-inch diameter. You may want to slightly increase the size of the vertical pipe if you have dual showerheads. Check the local building code prior to installation for guidance.
