Find Concrete driveway pros in Van Wyck

"I hired the Dunlop Brothers to (1) remove and replace damaged concrete and (2) add a drain near my detached garage. I found Mr. Jerry Dunlop to be a good communicator. The Dunlop Brothers were not inexpensive, but they were reliable and had the right skill sets and equipment. Their work was of very good quality. I am very satisfied with Dunlop Brothers and would hire them again."

"They came out gave an estimate and offered me a really good price. The owner is very nice and knowledgeable he wasn't just trying to rush through the job he made sure I understood everything, he and his crew did such a good job I had extra concrete as where I had him to pour me a small patio the same day, and I was given a discount for multiple services. Love this company they will definitely be my go to any other time ."

Concrete Driveways questions, answered by experts

Yes, concrete changes color while curing, moving from a dark shade when wet to a lighter shade once dry and fully cured. Wait at least 10 days after pouring the concrete to gauge the color of the final concrete. If the concrete remains dark or discolored after that period, reach out to your concrete contractor with questions.

Most concrete patios can benefit from resealing every 2 to 5 years, though the exact timing depends on the type of sealer used, how much wear and tear the surface gets, and how exposed it is to the elements. Acrylic sealers tend to wear down faster and may require yearly applications, while more durable options like epoxy or polyurethane can offer longer-lasting protection.

DIY is possible for small areas, but professional services ensure safe, efficient removal with minimal dust and debris.

Tree roots don’t necessarily break through concrete on their own, but they can certainly take advantage of existing cracks, even very small ones. As roots grow, they expand the cracks, making them larger and leading to serious and costly foundation damage. It’s a good idea to have repairs on any foundation cracks you’re concerned about.

Yes, concrete steps need rebar to reinforce the structure and ensure it can hold weight over time. Place a lattice of rebar inside the form before pouring concrete to give the steps their maximum strength. Tie each intersection together with rebar ties to hold the structure all together. Without rebar, concrete steps can sink, crumble, and lose their longevity.
