"The HVAC technician who came out for my central air cleaner replacement did an outstanding job. He showed up on time, explained everything clearly, and made the whole process quick and stress-free. You could tell he really knew his stuff… He also took the time to answer my questions and even gave a few helpful tips to keep the system running smoothly. It’s hard to find reliable, honest service like that these days. He didn’t try to sell me the most expensive product but the one he said was best fit for my needs. Highly recommend if you want the job done right the first time!"

"Responded when I contacted them, came out to give an estimate for a couple jobs, and then scheduled people to come. We had a fence section repaired and painted, and a couple screen doors installed in our porch. Work was done in a timely way for a reasonable cost. What more can you ask for! Will call them again."

Heating and Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

No, it's not safe to keep using your unit when it's frozen. Not only can running a frozen unit lead to damage, but it can also potentially overheat, making it a fire hazard. Therefore, it's always best to turn off the AC unit as soon as you notice any ice.

Your central A/C unit should be professionally serviced and inspected at least once a year to ensure it operates properly and efficiently. This is best done before the peak cooling season. A full-service inspection by a qualified pro will typically include checking safety components for issues like carbon monoxide leaks, verifying cooling components and coolant levels, and inspecting electrical parts like fuses and wiring. Regular servicing enhances efficiency, mitigates potential problems, and maintains optimal performance. Because AC systems contain hazardous refrigerant, professional handling is essential.

Don’t run your AC with a wet filter. It can cause your AC to work too hard, which will run up your utility bill and cause extra wear and tear on the system. You could also spread moisture and mold throughout your house. Turn off the AC, remove the wet filter, and check for cracks or clogs. Fix the problem (with a pro’s help, if you need it), and put a dry filter in place before you turn the system back on.

You should use a breathable, weather-resistant cover with ventilation. It can be a top cover or a full cover that has mesh to allow airflow. A full, non-breathable cover can cause moisture to build up, leading to rust, frozen parts, and corrosion. A full cover also attracts unwanted critters, such as mice, that can damage the wiring and your unit. If you need to protect your AC unit from falling icicles, choose a sturdy top cover or piece of wood that prevents icicles from damaging your unit.

Yes, the furnace and AC use the same blower. The blower is located in the base of the furnace and pushes hot air out of the furnace and into the ducts. It also pushes cool air through the home when the air conditioning is on. Even though the furnace and air conditioning work independently of one another, the blower is an essential component for both systems.
