"I was so impressed with Top of the Line Painting. Weather held up the work for over a week but Matt stayed in touch almost every day. His team came at the designated time and finished staining not only a two-tier deck but also painted the front porch in less than a day. They also pressure-washed the house and it looks beautiful. The work they performed was absolutely professional and I am extremely happy with the job they did. I highly recommend this company!"

"This was one of the best experiences we have had working with a contractor. It was a for a large install of ceramic tile. From removing the old hardwood, to leveling, to tile install and quarter round install through final cleanup, all was great. The finished flooring looks fantastic! Very diligent, thorough and professional from start to finish. As a bonus they also painted an area of our home with 16’ ceilings and it looks great, saving us time and a lot of effort. 5 stars plus!!!"

"all of the work was done in 2.5 days. very professional crew, equipment and truck. they cleaned up after everyday. they even brought in excess paints and stains from previous jobs to stain my privacy fence and deck, something that I was not charged for. I went with 3 quotes but for the work needed these guys had the best price."

"Excellent work and I have high standards! Company was always on time, professional, and friendly. Was shown each day what work was completed and what they’d paint the next day. I would definitely use Strokes of Excellence again and already recommended to friend looking for a painter."

"Let me start off by saying I have never written a review for anything, but Lakeside offers 50 dollars for any review, good or bad, so why not. I'm about as skeptical and stubborn as they come (and proud of it), so when a salesman shows up at my door offering something that sounds too good to be true, normally they would get a no thank you, and have a nice day. Maybe it was I was concerned about the condition of my roof or the thought of protecting and adding value to my biggest investment but for whatever reason when Kevin Cooke showed up at my door saying he could get me a new roof for the cost of my deductible, I was interested (but skeptical). Kevin explained the process thoroughly, and against my better judgement, I took a "chance". Lakeside had their inspector out the next day to look at my roof, I indeed had storm damage and the ball started rolling from there. Kevin again explained the process a few more times to me, and kudos to him for being patient, informative, and not pushy at all. After deciding I wanted to submit an insurance claim, Kevin handled all the heavy lifting with the insurance company. After the adjuster approved a full roof replacement, it was about 2 weeks and work started. As far as the actual roofers (im guessing typical roofing sub contractors), the work looks good, clean up was good, no leaks after a couple storms and comes with a big piece of mind with a 5 yr craftmanship warranty. Only "issue" Id say was I had requested to Tom (project manager) that id rather them leave the rain diverters off as I was going to be installing gutters. They ended up getting put on with the new roof, which wasnt a biggie i figured I could figure out how to take them off myself later, but a week later I got a call checking on how the work and experience was and i meantioned the rain diverters. It wasnt a few hours later Tom himself was at my house to remove them, kudos to him. Really amazing customer service, and I have no fear if a problem ever arises down the road that they will take care of it. Overall very good experience, and I have a brand new, good looking roof all for the price of my deductible, just as Kevin said. My advice for what its worth is dont hesitate to do business with this company, keep an open mind when Kevin or anyone of their other salesman show up at your door, and for Godsakes invite them inside into the AC, unlike me who made poor Kevin sweat to death because of my skeptisim, door to door sales is tough especially when its 100 degrees outside."

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

Yes, it is generally a very good idea to seal your deck after pressure washing. Power washing removes not only dirt and debris but also a thin layer of wood, leaving the surface exposed and more susceptible to weathering. Sealing is almost always needed after this process. After a general cleaning, sealing isn't automatically necessary if the existing sealant is still intact. You can test the surface by placing a few drops of water on it. If the water beads up, the sealant is working. If it soaks into the wood, it's time to apply a new sealant. If it has been a few years, it's wise to remove the old sealant, wash the deck, and reseal for maximum protection.

Waterproof paint creates a barrier to hold back moisture, but it doesn’t eliminate the source of the water. If you hire a basement waterproofing contractor, many will tell you that waterproof paint is only a temporary solution. On average, you can expect it to last from six months to two years in a wet basement before deteriorating.

If you don’t treat a cedar fence, it will turn from reddish brown to gray over time. You can keep the cedar from graying and retain its attractive, deep red color by sealing your cedar fence with a stain that keeps the wood’s oils in and serves as a barrier against the sun’s UV rays.

Beyond liquid rubber, homeowners can use sealants, stains, membranes, or tapes as waterproofing options. Oil-based or water-based sealants soak into the wood, creating a moisture-resistant barrier. Waterproofing stains—available in transparent, semi-transparent, and solid colors—add both protection and style to your deck. For heavy-duty waterproofing, deck membranes and waterproof tapes can be applied under the deck boards to direct water away from the structure below. Whatever method you choose, clean and prep the deck first to ensure the best, longest-lasting results.

The best exterior paint for the job of painting your front porch depends on the material you’ll be painting. Acrylic paint is often recommended for a wooden porch as it’s durable and easy to apply. If your porch is made of concrete, you’ll need to find a formula suited to that material.
