"DL Remodeling Company is amazing! Reliability, honesty, experience, fantastic customer service, reasonable prices and great results. Whether your job is large or small look no further. The owner, Dave is very nice and will do whatever it takes to make his customers happy. His crew has decades of experience between them. They come to work when scheduled, on time and with a smile on their faces. They work hard and take pride in whatever job they are doing. They all have excellent customer service skills and are willing to go the extra mile. I asked Luis to cut off some interior doors that were too close to the floor, he did that task and then I saw him oiling the hinges before he put the doors back. Tim was asked to caulk around the windows and I also asked him to show me how to get the windows to lock. He told me that I was having problems because the locks were installed incorrectly. He took the locks apart, oiled them and put them back correctly. He also caulked around an old tub and made it look new again. JJ called me when I was out of the house on an errand, he wanted to know where the cans of leftover paint were. He was looking for a project while he waited for the bathroom paint to dry and thought he would do some touch ups. These guys did all sorts of small projects for me throughout the house, building special shelves and drawers, assembling things, repairing pieces damaged in my move, fixing a gate that wouldnâ t open and a door that wouldnâ t stay shut. Did I forget to mention that they also gutted two bathrooms and a kitchen? Replaced shag carpet with a hardwood floor? Replaced my ugly front door? Removed three rooms of popcorn ceilings? Repaired and replaced drywall? Painted three full levels and a loft? Fixed areas that had previous water leaks? Skip and JJ did a beautiful job on the tile in my two bathrooms and kitchen, Tim is a master when it comes to drywall and painting and Luis can build anything you can visualize. Dave ran all over Greenville County to find the tile for my kitchen floor that I just could not live without and even hauled away my moving boxes. Above and beyond in every respect. They are coming back to paint my three decks. I would not even consider having anyone else work on my house. They completed all of the projects on time, at the price quoted and the finished product is beautiful. I could not be happier or more satisfied!"

Drywall questions, answered by experts

Whether you can reuse a drywall anchor depends on its type, material, and how it is removed. Plastic anchors, such as expansion or self-drilling types, are generally considered single-use because they are designed to expand and are likely to break or become deformed upon removal. Metal anchors, like toggle bolts, are more durable and can often be reused if they are not damaged during extraction. However, with toggle bolts, the toggle mechanism can fall inside the wall when the bolt is removed, making it difficult to retrieve. If an anchor is damaged or must be cut for removal, it cannot be reused regardless of its material.

Yes, you can mount a TV on plaster walls—as long as you attach it to the studs. Alternatively, you can use toggle bolts, molly bolts, or another type of hardware that’s strong enough to support a TV.

If you aren’t comfortable with this type of project, you can hire a pro. The cost of mounting a TV to a plaster wall ranges from $25 to $600 (or more), depending on the TV’s weight, size, and other factors.

There is no way to cut drywall without making dust, but you can reduce the amount of dust and especially the dangerous airborne particles by using manual cutting tools. Using a utility knife to score and snap your drywall will minimize dust production, and a jab saw for cutting cutouts for boxes and fixtures will generate almost no airborne dust. Even if you use these methods, you should still wear a respirator and safety goggles to avoid damage to your lungs and eyes.

You can usually tell if you have plaster or drywall by touch (plaster is harder, colder, and smoother than drywall) or by tapping on it (drywall sounds hollow, plaster does not). If you still cannot tell, peek under an outlet cover and check the cut edges. The rough edges show the composition of the wall. You will see either drywall (two paper sheets sandwiching gypsum material) or only plaster material (no paper sheets).

Regular inspections, repainting, and avoiding moisture exposure help maintain integrity.
