Superior Hardscapes & Landscaping LLC is professional Hardscaping and Landscaping Service that’s proud to offer our services to clients throughout Barnwell County and the surrounding area. Great service begins and ends with experienced and friendly professionals, which is why we put so much consideration into selecting the best people to join our team. We aim to not only meet your needs, but also exceed your expectations of what a dependable Landscaping Service can be.

"Eric Peeples, owner of Superior Hardscapes & Landscaping LLC, was hired on Sept 22nd, 2020 to complete a patio remodel. After taking the deposit Eric became very hard to get in touch with and remeatedly came up with excuses for why he could not work on the job. We were also told several times that he was waiting on materials when they were in fact sitting at the supplier. After 3 months of getting no where, we requested a refund, which over the phone he agreed to. Then we struggled to actually get a check and he even went as far as to send an envelope through UPS only to request that it be returned to sender the morning it was to arrive at our door. I do not recommend doing business with this company or Eric Peeples. He has taken almost $5,000 from us with zero remorse. He left our backyard torn up with rocks and piles of dirt everywhere. When other contractors assessed what he had done, they all have said it was no where near correct even if he would have finished it. We are actvely pursuing claims with the Better Business Bureau, South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation as well as the Charleston County and Barnwell County Sheriff's Departments."

Pavers and Hardscaping questions, answered by experts

Professional installers often include a deep layer of crushed gravel under permeable pavers to allow more runoff to soak through into the soil below. Many installations will include multiple layers of gravel, with coarser aggregate at the base and finer aggregate that sits on top of that bottom layer. Above the gravel, you’ll often find coarse sand that helps reduce paver shifting over time. Some permeable paver designs include a water collection system set into the gravel layer to route runoff to a safe area for disposal.

The most common causes of sunken pavers are poor base preparation and insufficient compaction. The problem could also be how your pavers were installed. If the soil beneath your patio or walkway wasn't compacted, it will pull pavers down as it settles. Additionally, using bare soil instead of making a paver bed with compacted gravel and sand can cause sinking over time. To fix sunken pavers, consider recompacting the base and addressing any drainage or erosion issues in the area.

Interlocking pavers can last 50 years or more, but you’ll need to keep up with some basic routine maintenance to get the most out of them. This includes regularly applying a sealant and keeping up with any weeds that start to grow within them. Avoid metal shovels in the winter, and only salt the pavers ahead of snow and ice if the pavers are part of a necessary walking path—salt and other chemical-based de-icers can take a toll on your pavers over time.

Concrete is typically the best material for a driveway if you’re looking for longevity, cost-effectiveness, and ease of maintenance. But, it’s not ideal for areas with annual freeze-frost cycles, nor is it the most attractive option—although you can get it stamped or painted. If your location is consistently below freezing, asphalt may be a better choice.

A gravel driveway can be driven on instantly. While pavers don't technically need to cure, you'll typically be told by a contractor to wait at least 24 hours before driving on any stones or bricks after they've been set. While an asphalt driveway does take up to 72 hours to cure, this is far shorter than the week required for concrete driveways.
