"I started my Angi project to do 6 fan replacements + 1 new fan install where a lighting fixture is hanging. The person who came in to do the consult and look around quoted me very high price. When I shared that their cost is higher than the standard Lowe's fan installation cost he was appreciative of me sharing the information and said that he will consult with his manager to get us a better price. In the end, the price quote I got was slightly higher than Lowe's. If you are looking for handyman type of work or anything small, Angi is not a platform to find the person. That is what I have learned from my first 2 projects at Angi. I took 2 stars away because Angi platform did not create a good match and secondly the price quote is the highest among all the pros Angi matched me with hence I did not go with these guys."

"Carlton and Tony were extremely professional and knowledgeable. They diagnosed the problem immediately and found where the electrical problem occurred, and why it occurred. They fixed the electrical issue immediately and recommended new GFCIs be installed. They were both great and very friendly, explaining why the outlets were wired in the circuit in the layout of the area in the house. I would whole heartily recommend this company and these two gentlemen for any electrical work."

Generator Install questions, answered by experts

It is safe to run a generator continuously, but you must follow safety protocols to ensure personal and home safety. Read the manufacturer’s instructions for specific recommendations, but the general recommendation is to turn generators off overnight or when you’re away from the house. Overworked generators can pose a fire hazard and if your generator is not in a well-ventilated area, running it continuously could lead to carbon monoxide poisoning.

Potential benefits of using a natural gas generator include reducing your carbon footprint, lower likelihood of carbon monoxide exposure, budget-friendly operating costs, and low-maintenance, continuous fuel supply. Some possible drawbacks, though, include higher initial installation costs, dependency on a natural gas supply, and installation complexity. Keep in mind that pros and cons will vary based on the type and brand of natural gas generator.

Yes, natural gas generators can work without electricity. Natural gas generators are a common type of backup or whole-house generator that operates when the electrical grid isn’t working. The trick is using a transfer switch (which usually needs to be installed with the generator) that safely switches the home electrical system from the power grid to generator power when needed.

No, you should never plug a generator directly into a wall outlet in your house. This practice is extremely dangerous, often illegal, and can cause "back-feeding," where power from the generator flows back into utility lines, creating a life-threatening hazard for utility workers. It can also damage your home's electrical system, including appliances like pumps and HVAC fans. If the main power is restored while the generator is connected, it can destroy the generator and cause an electrical fire. To safely connect a generator, you must use a professionally installed transfer switch or an interlocking kit, which prevents back-feeding by disconnecting your home from the utility grid before the generator provides power.

It’s usually better to repair your generator if it isn’t working properly, as it will typically be much more affordable and should yield similar results. Generator repairs cost around $300 on average, while installing a new whole-house generator costs around $5,000 on average. The only exception is if you know your generator is reaching the end of its useful life, usually between 30 and 40 years. If you have an older generator, you could face multiple repairs in the coming years, which might mean that a full replacement will be more cost-effective over time.
