"I compared several custom glass providers for new shower glass with a door. Goodman provided by far the best interaction and a slightly better price. Bennet was responsive and met our pressing schedule. I am extremely happy with Goodman Glass."

"Joseph Donabella was the handyman that came and fixed my front door. I have not been able to use my deadbolt for years. Joe took the door off and refit it properly so I can now use my deadbolt again. My door knob lock was also sticking. After he checked it he said I needed to replace the door knob due to its age and suggested I go to a hardware store so I can get the new knob and get it rekeyed to my current key. He was very pleasant and professional. I would work with him again."

"These guys were professional. Explained what they were going to do and. They kept us i formed through the project. I believe it was Joe that let me stand next to him when the other guys were making final adjustments to lift my laundry room so that I could see my laundry door close for the first time."

Small jobs welcome

I come from a long line of builders. With family members working across the trades and the construction industry, job sites were practically a second home growing up.\n\nI was out there by the age of thirteen — hauling materials, sweeping up, and learning the trade the way you only can with someone experienced looking over your shoulder.\n\nFrom there I moved into the home‑improvement world, spending twelve years building my career at Lowe’s Home Improvement. \n\nWanting to go deeper, I transitioned to private millwork and door distributor, selling to all the building material dealers and lumberyard to learn more and gain further hands‑on experience in the field. \n\nOver the better part of twenty years in building materials, that early curiosity grew into a genuine specialty — and the passion never left me. It just found its focus. And that focus is doors.

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

Solar screens use a thick mesh of polyester to block out the UV waves and solar heat. While they are more expensive at about $7.50 per square foot, they can protect your porch or hardwood floors from sun damage and keep the room or porch on the other side of the patio cool.

Most window screens in residential homes are designed to be removed from the inside, especially with double-hung, single-hung, and casement styles. That said, some setups require exterior removal. Older homes or custom installs may have exterior clips or brackets, and sunscreens are almost always mounted on the outside. Before removing your window screen, look at how it is held in place.

The most affordable way to screen in a porch is to add a base track system to an existing wooden frame. The whole process should cost around $2,000 for supplies, depending on the size of your porch. It’s much pricier to build a screened-in porch or sunroom from scratch—and you’ll probably need to hire a contractor for a project like that.

Whether you should repair or replace a screen door depends on the type and extent of the damage. It is easy and economical to repair a small tear in the mesh using a widely available DIY patch kit. However, if there are large tears, multiple damaged spots, or if the screen is made of a specialized material, replacing the entire screen mesh might be a better long-term investment for a tidier appearance. You should also consider the condition of the frame; if the frame itself is damaged, it's likely time to replace the entire door. Other factors to weigh include whether you want a new style or need a more durable door.

Yes, a variety of screen materials cut out glare from the sun. Solar screen material can block up to 90% of the glare and heat from the sun, saving on cooling costs. It also offers privacy yet unlimited outward visibility. The cost depends on the size of the screen roll, but solar screens cost between $25 and $90 per roll.
