"Ben did a great job on our door. He sanded the rust off of the frame and painted it. Then he installed new weather stripping. No more outside air or light coming through the door!"

"I hired Knight?s Remodeling. The job was a rebuild of the bird boxing w/cosmetic upgrade to my wood workshop/carport-recreational building. Darryl came prior to doing the work to get measurements and assessment for materials needed to do the job. Darry & his son Matt came back a weeks later to start. Not only were they both very efficient, in working together, the job was completed in one day! Not only were very organized in they were doing, but very timely. My building looks wonderful & very much appreciated. Darryl showed his expertise, in well looking cosmetic finish! They cleaned everything up! Best of all & moreover, the price for the labor & materials was extremely reasonable! This is the reason I gave Knight?s Remodeling a 5-star rating!!! ?????????????"

"Brandon did an amazing job on our backsplash!! We chose glass tiles instead of ceramic which created it's own challenges but Brandon made it look easy. He made suggestions which enhanced what I had envisioned and I'm so glad I listened to him. He went above and beyond what I wanted and made it happen on a tight timeline I had for a graduation party. He will show up, return calls and work long hours if need be and takes PRIDE in his work! Definitely a fresh change from the big companies that are more worried about doing a job quick, and not necessarily right."

Small jobs welcome

"Fred at Precision called me immediately after my RFQ and came out same day for estimate (was a Sunday). While there I had him look at another much larger project that I've been contemplating. PPP gave a great quote for both projects and I hired them. They showed up when they said they would and finished on time (it ended up being 8 days of work). I'm extremely satisfied not only with their work but with the spectrum of projects they're willing to take on; everything from small patch jobs to fairly major demo and construction. I HIGHLY recommend PPP."

"Perfect. Robert was extremely professional and did a wonderful job. He arrived on time and ensured the areas he work on were clean before he left. I highly recommend Robert for handyman services. I have already made plans to hire him for my next job."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.

Yes, professional installations include reinforced corner posts to ensure durability.

A-frame homes are on the smaller side. While there’s no set square footage amount it has to be, it will usually come in around 1,000 square feet or smaller.

While framing a basement is not as difficult as finishing a basement, it's something you should typically leave to the pros. That’s because if something is installed correctly, it will affect your entire basement. However, you can take care of some of the smaller tasks, like filling holes or putting up some insulation.

The easiest way to tell if a wall is load bearing is to check if it’s an exterior wall or if it runs perpendicular to the joists above and below it (or parallel to beams). Exterior walls are almost always load-bearing, and walls that run under beams or parallel to them are also usually load-bearing. There are exceptions to these rules, and walls that don’t fit into these categories can still be load-bearing. If you’re unsure, hire a structural engineer to look at your home to assess whether or not the wall is structural.
