"Jerry Rose at Paint It Contracting LLC was great to work with. Jerry recently remodeled a bathroom, removed and rebuilt a new 400 sq ft deck and updated our garage with an epoxy floor and painted the walls and ceiling. During the planning phase Jerry was very helpful to help design all aspects of the remodeling. He was very responsive and worked to a tight time schedule. He is very conscientious of the work and makes sure everything is done right. When the job was finished, Jerry pointed out a couple things that he wasn't happy with that I hadn't even noticed and he promptly addressed the punch list. In addition, Jerry is very trustworthy. His prices are fair and his quotes were accurate without hidden fees once the job was started. I highly recommend working with Jerry and Paint It Contracting LLC."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

For a professional carpenter, installing a window seat can take anywhere from a few hours to a few days, depending on some aspects of the project. Aside from building the seat itself, if they have to remove any cabinets, shelves, or baseboards, that will add time to the project.

While it is possible to build a wooden carport yourself, especially if you are skilled in carpentry, professional construction is recommended. Professionals ensure structural integrity, proper anchoring, correct alignment, and the use of quality materials for a stable and durable result.

Carpenters are trained to take on a wide range of home projects. You can hire a carpenter to do framing, roofing, build custom furniture, and make significant upgrades to your home. General carpenters are usually able to handle most jobs. However, you may also choose to hire a carpenter who specializes in a specific type of carpentry.

The primary parts of a house that need framing during construction are floors, exterior walls, interior walls, and the roof. The framing in these areas provides the skeleton for adding other materials over the top. With walls, for example, contractors can hang drywall over the interior walls and siding over the outside of the exterior walls. Proper framing ensures a sturdy house that is built to last.
