"Peeples plumbing was so easy to work with they were able to accommodate my schedule and work around a late rescheduling. The tech that came out to install my gas grill was very knowledgeable and instructed me how to swap out the propane orfices for the new gas orfices. He was also very neat and careful not to damage my newly laid sod. I would definitely recommend using Peeples Plumbing and I will call them again for any plumbing jobs I may have in the future."

"I have a walkout basement that has trouble in severe rains that floods my basement under the door. We had a small sump pump installed, but it did not help Memorial weekend when we had Biblical rains hit the area. My sump and shopvac were working overtime as the ground was so saturated. I called four contractors for estimates. Falcone was the first to show up three days later. Chris spent a great deal of time talking with us on our concerns and inspecting our property. He gave us a fast and fair quote. Our job was able to be completed within three weeks of scheduling it. It took four days for Chris, Kenny and their crew to install an internal french drain system in my basement and crawl space as well as a door drain along with a sump and backup. They were kind, respectful, and efficient. They did a great job and cleaned up the basement work area and my property when they were done. Maryl in the business office was great to work with. Everyone I was in contact with at Falcone was communicative and very nice to deal with. I would definitely recommend and would call on them again in a heartbeat. Thanks!"

"So easy to schedule and get done!! I called the office and they asked me to email or fax my report from Charleston Water. I emailed it, and they responded that they had received it within 5 minutes. They came out, performed the service and left a note on the front door. The note let me know that the test passed and that I could pay my bill online. Totally fantastic and I will use them each year. Many Thanks, great company!!!

"It went great! Bobby had to cut a hole in my wall. He explained to me what was going on, and showed me the pipe that was broken. He replaced the pipe and checked to make sure there were no more leaks. He cleaned up the mess he made and a little extra, and was done. Because of the insurance I had for repairs there was no charge to me. I would use Lighthouse Plumbing again.

"Michael's contractors, Martol Marble & Granite of CHS do the job. Ivan came to my house to measure my countertops. He was on time and very polite and very thorough with his explanation of what was going to be done. I went to their warehouse and picked out the granite I wanted and on Aug. 5th Ivan and his partner were at my house ready to install my countertops. They both were very polite and I have to admit they were humorous also which made for a very comfortable atmosphere. They explained everything they were doing and how to do the upkeep on my new granite countertops. It was a job well done. Ivan also called Michael Miller of Handyman Mike's to come to the house to hook up my new sink which was included in the price with the countertops and my new faucet. Mike arrived about 45 minutes after Ivan and Peter left. Mike was very thorough and told me that my garbage disposal was shot and he went across from my neighborhood to Lowe's to purchase a new one and the parts to go with it that I would need of which I paid for. He returned and installed the faucet and garbage disposal in record time. Mike was very polite and humorous as well. I am very, very satisfied with Michael E., Martol and Micheal Miller. Should I have any further work to be done Michael E., and the rest of the contractors will be the first that I call. Not only do they do a great job but you cannot beat the price anywhere. Thank you gentlemen! Jobs well done!!

Drain Pipe Installation questions, answered by experts

Yes, frozen pipes can prevent a toilet from working correctly. If the pipes are frozen, water cannot flow, which means your toilet tank won't be able to refill after a flush. This will prevent the toilet from flushing again. Depending on which lines are frozen, the ice can also block the drain pipe, preventing water from flushing away.

As a temporary workaround, you can manually add water to the tank for each flush. To clear a frozen drain pipe, you can try filling the toilet bowl or tank with warm water and flushing to help thaw the ice. However, the best long-term solution is to unfreeze the pipes to get your toilet back in working order.

You should inspect and clean your French drain at least once per year to keep it in good working order. Regular maintenance can help identify clogs, buildup, and damage before they become bigger problems, which increases the lifespan of your drain. The frequency with which a drain clogs can depend on factors like the amount of debris, the quality of the installation, and the type of filter used. If your drain accumulates a lot of sediment, it may require more frequent cleaning. It's also a good practice to check the access and exit points after heavy storms. If you notice reduced drainage or any signs of a clog, clean the drain as soon as possible.

Start by unscrewing the overflow valve, which is located on the wall of your tub between the floor drain and the tub spout. Gently insert a plumbing snake down into the pipe, move it back and forth, and pull it out. Remove any hair, debris, and soap scum that comes out with it. Repeat the process until the snake comes out clean, and then reinstall the cap on your overflow valve.

Bleach isn’t likely to help unclog a sewer line. Bleach isn’t useful in this situation because it won’t dissolve the grime and debris in the clog. Instead, you want to use ingredients that will have a chemical reaction to clear out the buildup, like vinegar or salt and baking soda.

When you put baking soda and vinegar down the drain, they chemically react and help break down clogs. It’s not going to work for every type of clog, however. For example, it’s not the best way to get rid of grease buildup. For grease, you should try boiling water and white vinegar instead.
