"This was the best service with 2 highly qualified gentlemen. They were both knowlegable and friendly. They arrived 20 minutes after the initial call which was at the end of their day. They could have gone home for the day like the bigger companies did but instead they stopped on their way home and serviced my central air condition system in the middle of a heat wave. Unlike the other companies that I called who couldn't respond for 3 to 5 days even after I explained I had an infant to keep cool. If you're looking for a reliable company MTS is where you should shop"

"They did an unbelievable job cleaning out my duct work from a house I just purchased. The amount of animal fur and dust that came out of the system was so disgusting to see but being able to see this showed the amazing quality of work they do. Highly recommend working with dr clean air"

"I had reluctantly put in a service request through Angi's list after being shelled shocked by pricing from the bigger, more well known AC companies here locally. Philip called almost immediately, understood my emergency (no AC with small children!) and assured me his team could take the job. Within 48 hours, I had a new outdoor AC unit! Philip was fair, straightforward, personable and his crew of technicians were on task and efficient. I give him and his work the highest of recommendation."

Air Conditioning questions, answered by experts

A new air conditioner capacitor will cost less than replacing the entire air conditioner system. While a capacitor itself will cost between $8 and $25, paying a professional to replace an AC capacitor will cost $180 on average. It’s not safe to replace an air conditioner capacitor on your own.

The cost to replace an AC unit averages around $5,900, with a typical range between $3,900 and $8,020. The final price depends on several factors, including the type and size of the air conditioner, its efficiency rating, your geographic region, and labor costs for installation. Smaller units like portable and window ACs are much less expensive, costing between $90 and $550, compared to central or ductless systems. If your current unit is less than 10 years old, repairing it may be more cost-effective than a full replacement.

It depends on the size of the space you’re cooling down. If you’re looking for the most affordable way to cool an entire house over a long period of time, then central air will be more cost-effective. But when it comes to cooling down a couple of rooms or one floor, a window unit may be the cheaper option, with both a lower cost to install and less energy used to run.

The outdoor portions of air conditioners are designed to weather the rain, so you don’t need to worry about it. An awning or roof will help protect them from snow or falling debris, which can do more damage. This is true of both window AC and outdoor units for larger systems.

On average, an AC unit lasts between 10 and 20 years. However, the specific lifespan depends on the type of unit, how often it's used, the local climate, and the quality of maintenance. Central AC units typically last 12 to 17 years, while window units have a shorter lifespan of 8 to 10 years. Portable AC units last about 5 to 10 years, and ductless mini-split systems can last up to 20 years. To extend the life of your AC unit, it's important to perform regular maintenance, such as replacing filters, cleaning coils, and scheduling annual professional tune-ups.
