"We received excellent service with our sod installation. Our lawn looks phenomenal, and after installation we were always asked if the sod was growing in full. I would most definitely recommend them to anyone."

"The truck was here on time as scheduled. He would not dump the mulch in the yard because they company had a problem with their truck sinking into a leeching field. I told him that our field was out back but he said he couldn't put it anywhere except in the driveway, which I understood. It just made it a bit more difficult for me to carry it over to where I needed it. Other than that the product was excellent and it lasted at least three years before I needed to replace it. I would definitely use their products again."

"We needed a total audit of our sprinkler system due to landscape construction we had done over the years. Heads needed to be changed and moved and a new water line to one of the zones needed to be replaced. I made an appointment with Luis the owner of Aqua Irrigation who came to the appointment on time and never requested a different time because he was too busy or it didn’t work for him. He said he wants to run the current system to see what exactly was going on with it. I was apprehensive at first because I felt water was just going to flood everything but I understood he needed to know what exactly was going on and what was needed to fix everything. He tested everything and gave me a quote then and there so I didn’t have to wait for it. We set the appointment up for the work to be done and he showed up on time once again. He ran a new water line to one of the zones, changed numerous sprinkler heads that I knew needed replacement, and moved heads to proper locations based on the new changes to the landscape. The price was very reasonable. Someone else I had come to give me an estimate didn’t physically check the system and had told me I’d likely need a total replacement of the system. This obviously would’ve cost us much more. I found Luis to be professional, personable, honest, and knowledgeable. We were very happy with the work and would definitely recommend Aqua Irrigation. We’ve added them as our”go to” lawn irrigation service provider."

Lawn Irrigation questions, answered by experts

Yes, it's common for lawns to look bare after dethatching. Dethatching brings soil to the surface to create a "bald" look on your lawn. While you may choose to patch or reseed your lawn if bare patches seem excessive, it's normal for a lawn to look bare after dethatching. With the layer of debris that was blocking water, nutrients, and air from reaching your grass now gone, your lawn is likely to grow better than ever.

Yes, after the lawn is overseeded post-aeration, most of the seed germinates in the aeration holes. This leaves the soil undisturbed while lush and healthy grass will grow in the holes' place. The point of this is to create extra turf density in areas that really need it, such as a large patch of dead grass where a shed used to be.

Whether or not grass will fill in bare spots itself depends on the type of grass you have. For example, grass with rhizomes (e.g., Bermuda grass) and stolons (e.g., Saint Augustine grass) will naturally fill in bald spots as it spreads laterally. However, clump-forming grasses will not spread.

Sod is different from grass because it comes in thick layers of mature grass, roots, and soil for quick transportation and easy installation. This is different from seeding your lawn, which involves directly laying grass seeds into the ground. Grass seeds take approximately 30 days to begin germinating and up to 18 months to reach maturity, whereas sod comes ready to go.

You can reseed a lawn that has dead grass, but it is best to remove the dead patches before you begin. Removing the dead turf and testing the soil will help you determine what is killing the grass so you can make the necessary amendments to prevent the problem from recurring. Once you have made the appropriate adjustments, you can rake, fertilize, and reseed. If your lawn has many large dead patches, it may be more effective to remove all the existing grass, amend the soil, and start over from scratch.
