"Contacted S&S via Angies List to get a quote on some electrical work. Scott and his team were very responsive and helpful. It turns out that I did not use S&S for this work at this time, but I wanted to comment favorably on their customer service. Would consider them for future work and recommend others consider them."

Customers say: True professional

"They first came a few weeks prior to replace some breakers since I was having issues with my lights and told me about the damage that was happening due to a leaky outside cable coming into the circuit breaker.  They also showed me the damage and explained it thoroughly to me.  They let me know it wasn't something I had to do immediately but would need to be done.
I requested a quote and they came out again to give me an estimate.  I then booked them to come out and was given a date and time along with letting me know I would be without power for 4-5 hours.
They arrived as scheduled and the job was done in about 5 hours at the cost quoted.
They were friendly, professional, prompt, and responsive.  I would definitely recommend them for any electrical issues.

Customers say: Quick response

"Had a Tornado hit my house and ripped out my mains power. Figured I'd upgrade the panel while I was at it and have a generator outlet installed for when I lose power again. Nick was VERY professional - gave me a quote, showed up on time, answered all of my questions, and the price was exactly where I expected it to be. Job was very well done. When the power went back on, my fridge didn't have power. He helped me pull the fridge out to find a GFI outlet, and he helped me reset it. Was really just a huge help! The guy is clearly a hard worker who really knows what he's doing. What I love is that I didn't talk to a sales guy who then sent a couple of kids to do the job. I got a quote, and the guy I spoke to did the work. That's awesome. I can't recommend this guy highly enough! Will reach out for any and all electrical work in the future."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

In Cranston, neglecting humidity control in basements or skipping bathroom fan use can cause moisture damage to electrical systems. Overloading older panels with space heaters, using indoor extension cords outside, and failing to test GFCI outlets monthly all reduce system longevity. Not clearing gutters or trimming trees increases the risk of water intrusion or storm damage, especially with the city’s mature trees and heavy fall leaf coverage.

Helpful?

Cranston’s humid summers and wet springs require moisture-resistant materials for electrical work, especially outdoors or in basements. Cold winters can make wires brittle and complicate exterior projects. Storms and nor’easters often cause outages and can damage exterior components. Scheduling electrical work for late spring or early fall helps avoid extreme temperatures and high humidity, ensuring safer and more efficient results.

Helpful?

In Cranston, electrical work can impact interconnected systems like heating, cooling, or sump pumps, especially in older homes. Watch for signs such as flickering lights when major appliances run or if your water heater and security system share circuits. If your main panel serves multiple systems, any updates may affect them. Always check for shared GFCI outlets and consider how changes might influence overall home safety.

Helpful?

For electrical projects in Cranston, keep waterproof wire nuts, high-quality electrical tape, and outdoor-rated GFCI outlets to handle local humidity. Stock 15A and 20A breakers, 12 AWG and 14 AWG wire, and a reliable voltage tester. A flashlight or headlamp is useful for dim basements, and a portable generator helps during frequent storm-related outages in the area.

Helpful?

Before starting electrical work in Cranston, review local permit requirements and plan your project outside of hurricane or winter storm seasons to minimize weather-related delays. For homes built before 1980, assess for potential hazards like asbestos or lead paint. Walk through your home to identify shared circuits and ensure you have clear access to your electrical panel for a smoother project process.
