"Contacted S&S via Angies List to get a quote on some electrical work. Scott and his team were very responsive and helpful. It turns out that I did not use S&S for this work at this time, but I wanted to comment favorably on their customer service. Would consider them for future work and recommend others consider them."

"Lost power to my home office hub/work center (WIFI, connected cable, land line, computers, printers, etc). I wasn't able to secure an appointment for days considering the holiday is right around the corner and I have limited availability. I had put the word out and DP Electric was the last to reach out to me and was able to quickly address my issue and had my home office up and running and fully operational. DP Electric saved my week allowing me to do damage control and keep my holiday plans on schedule. Thanks guys!"

"Ryan did a great job. Showed up when he said he would, took great care in cleaning up after installing the bathroom ceiling exhaust fan I had purchased. If I need any additional electrical work, I will be calling Ryan."

Customers say: Quick response

"Had a Tornado hit my house and ripped out my mains power. Figured I'd upgrade the panel while I was at it and have a generator outlet installed for when I lose power again. Nick was VERY professional - gave me a quote, showed up on time, answered all of my questions, and the price was exactly where I expected it to be. Job was very well done. When the power went back on, my fridge didn't have power. He helped me pull the fridge out to find a GFI outlet, and he helped me reset it. Was really just a huge help! The guy is clearly a hard worker who really knows what he's doing. What I love is that I didn't talk to a sales guy who then sent a couple of kids to do the job. I got a quote, and the guy I spoke to did the work. That's awesome. I can't recommend this guy highly enough! Will reach out for any and all electrical work in the future."

"Best experience I’ve had so far being a homeowner. TIm D was very knowledgeable didn’t try to force me to do something else that I didn’t want or make sense to do. I’m actually considering doing my central air sooner than later because of the great finance options they have available. Which is why I didn’t complete the C-wire service it only makes sense to do it all at once under one invoice."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

If you have a garage heater that is 1,500 watts or more, it will need its own breaker. As a good rule of thumb, no appliance should exceed 1,500 watts per outlet for best outcomes. Consult a local garage heating service to determine the power needs for your outdoor or indoor space.

The easiest and best way to power your outdoor lights is with the use of outdoor outlets. Most building codes now require exterior outlets in homes, so you likely already have outdoor outlets available to plug into. However, you can have these outlets installed if your space doesn’t currently include them.

There are many signs it is time to replace an electrical panel, starting with flickering lights. Other tell-tale signals include overheating appliances, light fixtures that cause an electric shock, hissing or crackling from the breaker box, burned or blackened spots near the breaker box, and breakers that trip whenever activating power-hungry appliances like microwaves.

With AC wiring, which is the kind most likely you’ll find at home, the black wire is “hot,” and the white is “neutral.” The bare or green wire is considered the safety ground wire. If you encounter DC wiring, it’s relatively easy to tell positive or negative wires apart. red wires are used to indicate positive voltage and black wires indicate negative voltage.

Yes, you can connect two extra outlets (or more) to one outlet if the total load on the circuit allows for it. If you have a 15-amp circuit, electrical code allows up to eight outlets or light switches. But if you’re dealing with outlets in the kitchen and bathroom, you may not be able to have as many. Kitchen and bathroom appliances often need higher amperage. You can also change a single outlet to a double outlet by cutting a larger hole in the drywall and replacing the outlet with a quad receptacle.
