"S & S Electric did a fantastic job. They were friendly, knowledgeable, efficient and their price was better than all competitors'. They cleaned up after themselves, they did some extra work without trying to nickel and dime me. I am very happy with the work they performed and will gladly use them again."

"I can’t say enough good things about Phos Electric. Cris and his crew were extremely professional from start to finish, but what really stood out was how down to earth and easy they were to work with. They explained everything clearly, showed up on time, and made sure the job was done right. You can tell they take pride in their work and truly care about their customers. I highly recommend Phos Electric to anyone looking for honest, high-quality electrical work"

"We completely lost power in our home just as it was getting dark on Monday night. I went to Angi and put in a request for an electrician. It asked if I needed to have a call right away and after saying yes I was contacted by Scott from Belcher Electric. I explained our situation and he asked where we lived. I told him and he said he was not far away and was picking up his dinner. He told me he could be here in about a half hour. He came right over and let me know the main on our electrical panel had failed. He told us he could get a crew right over and replace it for us as he did not want elderly people to be without electricity. We had previously had work done in August and were told we would eventually need to have our panel replaced. We were given a quote at that time but we were not in a position to cover that high of an expense. The quote Scott had given us was much lower and more in our price range, especially when he was going to come back with a crew and replace it immediately. He told us it would take about 2 or 3 hours to complete. He returned with his crew and everything he needed to do the job. In 2 hours we had power! He replaced the old 150 panel with a 200 panel and he and his men checked all the lights and the water pressure to make sure everything was good. He checked the line outside and because we still had a little flickering of the lights he suggested we contact National Grid in the morning and have them check the line at the pole as that may have been the reason for the failure. In the morning I did contact National Grid and they sent Someone out. He found there was a problem and he was able to replace a line. Thanks to Scott and the two men who came out and replaced the panel in the dark, we were Also able to have a problem with our outside line repaired. I am so thankful to him and National Grid for helping to keep us safe from an electrical issue that could have been so much worse. Also thank you for being so reasonable with your pricing."

Electrical questions, answered by experts

To reset an electric fireplace, first shut the unit off using the control panel or remote control. Make sure the unit is entirely shut down, then unplug it from the power outlet. Wait five to 10 minutes, then plug the fireplace back in and turn it on. This process should reset the electric fireplace. After resetting, make sure to set the thermostat, timer, and other programmable settings to suit your preferences.

Track lighting typically needs to be hardwired, connecting directly to the electrical wiring in your ceiling for a permanent and reliable power source. Hardwiring provides a clean and professional look with no visible cords. However, plug-in track lighting options can be connected to a standard electrical outlet, offering easier installation and flexibility. The choice between hardwired and plug-in track lighting depends on your needs, preferences, and existing electrical setup.

Typically, when a 3-way switch only works when one switch is on, this is one of the most telltale indicators that the switch has gone bad (although this could also be the result of faulty or loose wiring). To diagnose the issue, toggle each switch until the light comes on. Once it’s on, toggle each switch separately again; the switch that doesn’t turn the light off is the bad switch.

People who have experienced blown fuse have occasionally tried to fix the problem by placing copper pennies in the fuse box. While they are good conductors of electricity and can seemingly “fix” the issue,  they don’t protect against short circuits or fires. Putting pennies in a fuse box is dangerous—the best solution is to call a professional electrician to fix the problem.

A gas stove doesn't always need a dedicated circuit. Unlike an electric range, which uses 240 volts and requires a 240-volt receptacle, a gas stove only uses 120 volts. In some cases, your electrician will need to replace the existing two-pole circuit breaker with a single-pole circuit breaker as well as swap out the existing 240-volt receptacle with a 120-volt replacement.
