"We gave Mr. Britenbaugh a 1000. dollar initial deposit and signed a contract for a bath remodel with an estimated start date several months from the contract signing date. Mr. Britenbaugh promptly cashed the deposit and had no communication with us. A few days before the estimated start date, we called and then emailed Mr. Britenbaugh to confirm he would be starting as expected. He informed us that he was running behind schedule on his current job and gave us a new start date of four weeks later. We told him the job must be completed before Thanksgiving, and he assured us that our job was a 4 week job and he would start on October 12. We also asked him to communicate any further delays in his new start date and anything else that may cause a delay. He agreed to do so. However, when we called and emailed him a few days before the new start date he told us he was behind on his current job and had no idea when he would start our job. He could only tell us that he would start our job after he finished his current job. At this point, we lost all confidence that he would ever show up to do our job, and we asked him to please return our deposit. He refused to return it even though he could not honor his terms of the contract. When we contracted with Mr. Britenbaugh, he had no reviews either positive or negative. I am leaving this review so that others know of our experience and can choose to avoid this contractor so as not provide Mr. Britenbaugh the opportunity to repeat this."

Signs of structural damage include foundation cracks, roof leaks, bouncy floors, crumbling concrete, and cracked or leaning chimneys. Structural damage can make itself apparent in various ways, and sometimes, there may not be obvious signs. Inspect your foundation and roof annually to stay ahead of potentially serious structural problems.

The best way to calculate framing costs is by basing your costs on the square footage of your home. On average, framing your home could cost anywhere between $7 and $16 per square foot.

To ensure you don’t go over budget, base your estimates on the higher end of the price range. If you know you’re going to use high-end materials or require a custom or complex build, you might even want to tack on an additional 5% of your budget.

Modern brick houses are really stick-built homes with a brick facade for aesthetic purposes only, so most have framing. With genuine brick construction, most homeowners install furring strips over the interior of the brick and then install drywall over those strips to cover the brick wall, so they don’t have traditional framing.
