Meredith Home ImprovementGreat. I went from proposal to a schedule within a few days. Work that normally would have taken 1 day was broken into 2 due to weather. Totally love my new roof! I had some bad spots in the plywood underlayment that were taken care of without issue. Great job!- Jim M.

Meredith Home ImprovementI did not choose Meredith Home Improvement because they did not have the one particular shingle I had my heart set on. Other than that, their bid was excellent, the entire bid process was outstanding. Cameron Kinnee, my contact, was extremely professional and very helpful!- Thomas H.

Meredith Home ImprovementI was very satisfied with the overall experience. The pricing was competitive with other well-established companies, and the quality of the work was excellent. I would have liked to receive a little more communication during the time period when my project was being scheduled, but that is my only comment on an otherwise excellent process.- Chris M.

Christine was extremely responsive and easy to work with. Her highly-skilled crew reinforced my 100 year old home by replacing the basement floor (joists and sub-floor) and building a support structure to level and carry the load of the sagging floors above. Christine and team followed all COVID-19 guidelines and I look forward to working with them on future projects.

All work was done as expected. $100 for installing a small bracket on a railing was excessive and leads to a suspicion that, while the roof replacement was reasonable, other items may not be.

Business Description:
Marra Brothers Contracting is a fast growing family owned company established in 2014. Two inspired brothers set out to transform homes in an efficient and affordable style. The Marra Brothers specialize in interior painting, exterior painting, deck building, and basement remodels.
Recent Review:
Avoid. We contracted Marra brothers to renovate our small master bath in November 2019. This would be the second bathroom we contracted them to renovate. We had no major issues with the first bathroom reno in 2019. Work on this bathroom project began in early January 2020. During this time we also contracted them to repaint numerous interior rooms, our railings, some carpentry work on our steps to add risers, and add a door to an office. During the bathroom remodel, in February there was a soft clog in the line and our basement partially flooded. Once cleanup was completed, we also contracted Marra to tear out and renovate our newly flooded basement. During this time from January to May we had numerous issues with sloppiness and general mess that was made, unreliability of workers, quality of work, all of which I addressed repeatedly as the issues arose. When they first sanded no plastic was put up, there are parts of my home where I’m still cleaning even though I was told they would, most of the paint on our railings and some walls has worn off, there are light fixtures and carpet that have paint on them, I requested numerous paint touch ups because areas were missed or painted around yet the touch ups look worse than before the touch up. But the proverbial straw here is what started happening in the bathroom in September 2020 (they “completed” the bathroom at the end of March). In September one of the tiles on the shower floor came out. I contacted Marra Bros and asked them to repair. He said sure. A week went by and no word so I asked again and they came out and used liquid nails or something similar to place the time back in place which of course came out with two days. The tiles have continued to pop out of the shower floor, at this point there are TEN tiles that have come out of the shower floor. The tiles on the bathroom floor have also come loose with cracked grout. I wasted, I mean spent tens of thousands of dollars for all of this work and had them in our home from January until May. The quality of the work depended largely on who showed up or didn’t. Overall they lack good planning and project management skills. Our bathroom tile looks horrible in some places largely because there was no plan and **** poor project management. I’m now working with another contractor so I can spend thousands more to repair the shoddy work Marra did in this bathroom. I will then spend more with a painter to redo their shoddy paint work. At which point I will still probably be cleaning dust from the original project. Find another contractor so you don’t end up like me having to pay a second contractor to fix the “work” that Marra Bros did in our home. I’m sick over the amount of money each time a tile comes lose.

We chose Klipa Custom Contracting not only based on the price, but we loved Justin Klipa's confidence and understanding of what we needed done. It took us awhile to get on the schedule as Justin is very busy, and I fully understand why after seeing his work. We have a 2-room addition on our house with a very short crawl space underneath. We knew 10 years ago that there was a problem with the floor sagging between the rooms when we bought the house and over the years it had just gotten worse. There also had been a wood burning stove in one of the rooms that had been removed. Left over was a large cement section poured into the floor.
Justin and his team busted up the cement, and used that as the access point to get in the crawl space to install a steel beam to better support the too long span of the floor joists in use. They managed to get it level, bringing the floor up a full 3 inches! The floor is solid now, where before we had to walk gingerly as it would move. The beam is supported on cement with a pole in the middle and on each end on the foundation block. I can close my bedroom door now, and there's space above it! It's such a relief to have this fixed as I really thought it was just all going to collapse one day. He covered the open area with plywood to bring the floor level with the rest. There is still carpeting in that room we had planned to replace, and now we're ready to do that.
As we were beginning this job, my neighbor's grandson accidentally broke a basement window. I had always wanted glass block windows, and asked Justin if he could manage to install some while on this job. I also had a broken corner on our front masonry porch, that needed repaired. Justin got me great windows, and repaired the porch too. He even created lines in the cement repair to match the existing block.
I'm having him come back for more interior work over the Winter. Overall the best experience with any contractor I've had. It wasn't just his work that impressed me. The confidence I saw that first day when he gave his estimate carried throughout the job. I loved how he handled his crew as well. He answered all my questions about various things I needed done in my house, and he left here with a list of what we still want to get done.
My daughter has Autism, and when I explained the need for communication as far as when they would be in the house and warning when there would be noise, they fully understood and complied. I couldn't have wished for a better outcome overall.

Sipes and Son did brick pointing and sealing near my front stoop and garage; installed a metal pipe column to support a ceiling/floor; and removed and replaced drywall in a ceiling so floor joists could be inspected. The price was not inexpensive, but I hired Sipes and Son because they have been in business for decades, and they have very good online reviews. All of the workers who came to my house were very courteous and performed their jobs well.

We were extremely happy with the service, installation and quality provided by Pella of McMurray. We dealt with Rob Culbertson. Rob was superb to deal with in many aspects. I highly recommend selecting Rob to handle your needs. The installers were professional, respectful and diligent. They worked hard under cold conditions. They were cognizant of their cleanliness too and swept up frequently. The fiberglass windows and doors look great and I examined them thoroughly. My neighbors have been complimentary too. Try Rob Culbertson and Pella of McMurray for your needs.
