"J&N finished on time and on budget. They were able to chase down some trim that was hard to find, but necessary to match existing trim. They cleaned up the areas at the end of each day. Drywall and painting looks perfect. They came to us highly recommended by a retired general contractor."

"A++++++. Bladamire and his team were PHENOMENAL AND SO HELPFUL! As a small business owner and designer, I know quality work and reliable contractors when I see them. He showed up when he said he would, even on a weekend, met my deadlines and his pricing was very reasonable. He went above and beyond my expectations and not only will I hire him again and again, but I recommend him to anyone I can. He can do EVERYTHING."

"Conrad and his team are punctual and professional. They offered suggestions, explained the project steps in detail, and completed the project to specification. Daily, they cleaned up after themselves and provided me with a project update. My wife and I were very satisfied with the results. I would hire them again!"

"I have worked with many contractors before and Luiz was exceptional! He called me on a Sunday to talk about my project and arrived as promised the next day to give me a quote. He and his helper completed my job promptly and I will use them again in the future for other tile projects we have. I highly recommend him. The craftmanship is wonderful and he is very courteous. This was the most pleasant experience I have ever had with a contractor."

"We contracted A&Z Construction LLC. To build a large deck and install a door from our kitchen leading to the deck. They had to remove a bulkhead and part of a wall so we could access the door. Zack and his crew did a great job their craftsmanship and attention to detail resulted in a wonderful finished product. They cleaned up at the end of each day which was unexpected, but welcome. I would recommend A&Z for any of your construction needs."

Unfinished Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

If you remove a load-bearing wall to create an entrance to a carport or covered patio, you can expect to pay between $3,200 and $9,500, with an average cost of $6,400. Factors such as the type of addition and if that area needs additional work will add to the price.

Enhances property value, ensures safety, and provides a sound basis for future construction.

Removing a load-bearing wall is best handled by professionals. However, if you have the skill set and decide to DIY the project, you will still need at least one additional person to assist you. Aside from helping with demolition, you'll need another hand to install the new support beam.

Baseboards don’t have to be nailed into studs. However, nailing them into studs adds to their stability. When studs aren’t available, you can secure them with drywall nails directly into the drywall and adhesive. Always aim to nail into studs, especially in high-traffic or impact-prone areas.
