"They stayed late and completed the whole job in one day which we appreciated. Good preparation, presented themselves professionally, and very accommodating since we had already moved into the house. They overlooked a spot and came back the next day to fix it; no problem. The cost was very reasonable."

"STOP-- if your looking for a professional painting contractor, look no further. you just found one. Donald and his crew prepared and painted 2 coats of paint to the exterior of our house. It is a  5 bedroom brick with a lot of wood trim, a rather large job. he started and was finished as per his estimate, there were no " I need more money requests "  as is common with others. also, they sealed and stained a new deck. he is not happy, until you are with his work.no down payments for the job, you pay only when you are happy and they are done. he actually answers the phone, unlike others you call and your call goes straight to voice mail. I would use his company again."

"Ron did a great job for a good price on our new house, painting the exterior.  Got the work done in the time he said he would.  Ron seems to be an old-school guy that does not take credit card and uses a handshake or conversation to seal the deal.  Was worried at first but he did everything we asked.  Other painters could not match our timing or were very expensive.  Good work.

"Tom did a great job! I'll definitely be coming back to Prolific Painting when I need more work done. I purchased the half-day coupons over a year ago, planning to get some drywall fixed, but I used them instead for getting our kitchen, hallway, and wood-panelled dining room painted. It took three days total, with the two coupons each good for half a day. Nate only charged $530 for the two extra days of painting! I honestly thought Tom had the wrong price when he told me the price Nate quoted him. The work itself was top-notch; Tom patched up our kitchen ceiling where a track lighting fixture had been removed, and smoothed out some dimples on our old plaster walls. In the kitchen, I can't find a trace of the old dayglo orange color by the cabinets or the seam where the wall meets the counter. All in all, everything looks fantastic. Very pleased!

Deck Staining questions, answered by experts

You’ll need to wait until the surface is completely dry, which can take anywhere from 24 to 48 hours under optimal conditions. The waiting period depends on several factors, including the type of siding and the weather conditions. Trying to paint before the surface is completely dry can trap moisture under the paint, leading to bubbling, blistering, and mold growth.

Applying too much sealer to a deck might seem like extra protection, but it can cause more harm than good. Wood is a porous material with a limited capacity to absorb liquids. When you go overboard with sealer, the excess can't soak in and instead forms a film on the surface. This leftover layer is prone to peeling, cracking, and trapping moisture, ultimately defeating the purpose of sealing in the first place.

The best temperature to paint a pool deck is between 50 and 90 degrees Fahrenheit, because many paints and sealers require temperatures warm enough for the chemical reaction to take place for proper curing. The paint should not be allowed to freeze, and temperatures above 90 degrees can cause the paint to dry too quickly, also preventing the chemical reaction from following through to completion.

Whether to brush or roll stain on wood depends on the project and your preference. Brushing is ideal for smaller, intricate areas and offers more control over the application, ensuring thorough coverage and penetration into the wood's grain.

Conversely, rolling is efficient for more extensive, flat surfaces and can save time. However, it is not always the best fit for textured or uneven wood. Some projects may benefit from combining both methods, using a brush for detail work and a roller for broader areas. Ultimately, the choice between brushing and rolling depends on the specific requirements of your staining project.

Yes, you can and should paint or stain pressure-treated wood, as this helps prevent the surface from cracking. However, it is crucial to wait for the wood to dry out completely from the chemical treatment process before applying a finish. If the wood is still wet, the paint will not adhere properly. The drying time can range from weeks to six months. To test if the wood is ready, drip some water onto a board. If the water is absorbed, the wood is dry enough for painting or staining. If the water beads up on the surface, it needs more time to dry. You can build with the wood while it's still wet, but you must wait for it to dry before painting.
