Thompson Family Painting and Remodeling was born some 30 + years ago in Augusta Georgia when I began painting at Medical College of Georgia. I quickly found out that this was not just something I enjoyed, but something I excelled at. I was taught from a very early age to always do my best at whatever I did and never to walk away from a job until it was done right. And this is the philosophy I have followed throughout my career. I moved from Augusta to Tulsa to Los Angeles to Redding California. Always striving to refine my skills and take them a step further. It was in Tulsa that I began remodeling homes and doing room additions. After moving here to Pennsylvania I got the opportunity to work on the magnificent and historic Colerain Mansion in Spruce Creek. A massive home built in 1790 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places by the U.S. Department of the Interior. It is currently owned by celebrated author Dorothy Gray (Gurney). And it was at the insistence of Mrs. Gurney that I started Thompson Family Painting Company. And it is my solemn vow to provide the absolute best quality at the best price and leave you more than satisfied. Minor water damage on wood tables can be reversed fairly easily. You can remove stains and light surface damage with a sandblock, then repaint and re-varnish the wood surface. For swollen and rotten wood, you can cut away the damaged parts and use a wood filler as long as the affected area isn’t too much.

Whether it is worth it to ship your bedroom furniture depends on your priorities, but it can be hard to decide. Vinegar won’t strip the wood stain from your wood, but it can help remove a different type of stain. If you’re dealing with food stains or trying to remove water rings on your wood, you can use a little olive oil and vinegar (mixed equally) to remove those stains without stripping your actual wood stain. Just rub the solution in the direction of the wood grain, let it sit, and then wipe it away with a damp towel.

Avoid using wood filler for structural repairs or areas with extensive damage. Wood filler is designed for cosmetic fixes like filling small holes, cracks, or surface imperfections, and it doesn't provide the strength needed for load-bearing repairs or large gaps. You also shouldn’t use wood filler in areas exposed to heavy moisture or extreme outdoor conditions unless it’s a product specifically rated for such environments. Wood replacement or a strong epoxy resin is a better solution for severe rot or structural damage.
