"No problems. I had Alliance out several years ago to install a liner on our furnace chimney with no issues. I believe Joe was the person performing the service and informed me that the chimney was already pretty clean and he would just charge for coming out. We're having a gas insert installed in this fireplace and I said I was supposed to get the chimney cleaned so I had him do the cleaning anyway. He was here about an hour and seemed very knowledgeable and friendly. I had a 10% off coupon from Angie's list that he wasn't aware of but gave the 10% off any way. The service was a little pricey compared to some other companies but I felt comfortable with this company. Total cost was $212 with 10% off was $190.."

"I would like to say Anthony and his helper for the professionalism job they did on my chimney When I first called the company, I told them my situation that I needed my chimney swept and inspected I also asked a lot of what if questions they found something wrong. The technician explained everything to me that needed to be done before going any further. After taking the pictures, Anthony showed me that sweeping the chimney was not an option and that my vents were off line and carbon and gas was seeking back into my house. They gave me a start date and time frame, They called and gave me an ETA and was on time. Like I said earlier, they were courteous, polite and friendly. Afterwards, they did a great job of cleaning up and asked me to inspect the area to make sure I was satisfied with the clean up. They also sent pictures of the work and what I needed to do to maintain it. Thank you Anthony and Nu Chimney for a job well done and all you do."

"I want to thank George for sending Anthony and his men to repair my house chimney and then bracing it to the foundation. These gentlemen were professional, courteous, and efficient; they also finished in a timely manner. Additionally, I want to thank George for taking the time explaining the details pertaining to this project. "As a single, female homeowner I rely heavily on customer reviews when it comes to selecting contractors for home repairs. Therefore, I take submitting my reviews seriously and am always completely candid. With that said, I am submitting this review to express my satisfaction with the chimney cleaning and chimney liner replacement performed by Daren of Gallo's Chimney Sweep. Daren (and his brother-in-law, whose name escapes me) were both extremely professional and personable. Daren provided pictures of my chimney, which clearly showed I had a problem. He patiently explained in detail (including the required materials) what should be done to rectify the problem. There were no 'hard sale tactics' nor any pressure to sign a contract. After making a few calls and conducting my own research on the Internet I discovered his quote was very reasonable. We agreed on a date/time and he arrived as scheduled. They reviewed completed stages with me throughout the project to make sure I understood what they were doing and why. Once the job was complete, they cleaned up all the debris. Gallo’s Chimney Sweep checked all the boxes: Prompt, Professional, Dependable, Lifetime Guarantee, Reasonable Pricing, and Immaculate Clean-up. I highly recommend Gallo's for your chimney repairs and maintenance."

"Both chimney sweeps first of all were professional. Second, they told you what they would/were doing. With this they also supplied pictures of the flue and chimney. Third, they completed the work in a timely manner and thoroughly cleaned up after the job was done. Finally, they went over the work they did and made me aware of what maintenance I need to do in the future."

Chimney Sweep questions, answered by experts

DIY is not recommended due to the complexity and potential structural issues. Hire professionals for thorough and safe repairs.

Repairing a fire-damaged home could cost anywhere from $2,000 to $200,000 or more—it all depends on the extent of the damage and the quality of the materials you use. In most cases, your homeowner’s insurance company will cover the majority of the repairs. If you’re buying a home with fire damage, though, it’s best to get an estimate from a fire damage restoration company to estimate the repairs before closing.

Baking soda is an effective fire reduction method. However, flour and baking powder are very dangerous around flames. Flour is flammable and it can also conduct electricity. The combination can cause serious injury from electrical shock and worsen the situation by adding fuel to the fire. Baking powder is also not an option as it's also highly flammable.

The timeline for fire damage restoration varies significantly, from a day or two to over a year, depending on the extent of the damage. For minor incidents like a small cooking fire, cleaning up soot and removing smoke odors may only take a day or two. Repairing minor damage might take about one to two weeks. However, a major fire requiring structural repairs, full property renovation, and replacement of materials can take anywhere from six to 12 months to over a year. This longer timeline often includes waiting for insurance approvals and contractor scheduling. It's best to consult with your insurance provider and restoration team to get an accurate timeline for your specific situation.

Neglecting to clean your chimney can lead to serious safety hazards. A primary risk is the buildup of creosote, a highly flammable substance that can ignite and cause a dangerous chimney fire. This buildup can also create blockages in the flue, resulting in poor venting of smoke, soot, and toxic gases like carbon monoxide, which can then enter your home and create dangerously poor indoor air quality. Additionally, creosote is acidic and can damage the chimney's mortar and metal components over time, potentially allowing smoke to leak into your house. To prevent these issues, it is essential to schedule an annual chimney cleaning with a professional.
