"Scott and Arian were wonderful! They provided a quote and completed the work all within the span of a week! My deck needed a pressure wash and a few boards replaced before the stain and Scott took care of it all. He and his office manager Arian were extremely friendly as well. I'm very happy with the results and would recommend them to anyone."

"Major full, hall bath renovated over ten years ago. Needed clean-up and refresh. Dave repaired ceiling and walls, painted, replaced medicine cabinet, lighting, fan and switches. Also painted hallway and doors. Did a great job. Recommend and would use again."

Small jobs welcome

"Was introduced to him by a friend; he did some pretty major carpentry work on the floor of my house which was starting to sag. He was very responsive and professional throughout, and left everything clean and orderly. Definitely would hire again"

"Dave and Justin replaced our deck and built a screened porch on a portion of the deck. They worked well with our architect and offered suggestions to improve the looks. Not only are we pleased with the results; but, friends were impressed the way the porch looked. If we have any future projects, Ryden Construction would be the first company we would call."

"Great company to work with! They came out and gave us a quote within a day and had us on the schedule two days later to repair a 14' long settlement crack in the brick facade on our front entry. They ( Rick and Austin) arrived on time and put down protective coverings on the paver steps and shrubbery. They completed the job within 4 hours and left the job site as clean as they found it. The best news is that within three days the new pointing is invisible! We highly recommend this company They are highly professional in all aspects!"

"Dan at Pana Landscaping was a pleasure to work with. He listened to what we wanted. Ten dying bushes were removed and were replaced with beautiful new ones . The bordering Belgian blocks finished the work perfectly. We highly recommend Pana Landscaping."

"Excellent quality work, highest level of courtesy and professionalism, and an excellent price on the job. After being blown off by two other roofing companies that were supposed to give an estimate and 2 others that didn't return my call at all, Geno came through on the needed repairs. I have some other work that needs addressed and will definitely give him a call."

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

There are both temporary and permanent ways to enclose a carport. If you’re looking to enclose your carport for the winter, a canvas enclosure could do the trick. It won’t be as protective as a permanent structure, but it can offer some protection from elements like snow, rain, and wind. For a permanent enclosure, you can add extra walls, add a new vertical roof, or a lean-to addition on one side of the structure.

When deciding whether to use nails or screws for framing, the specific needs of the project must be taken into account. Nails have long been the go-to option for framing due to their affordability, ease of installation, and ability to withstand shear forces. They are perfect for structural framing projects where fast assembly is essential. In contrast, screws offer exceptional holding power and are particularly useful in situations requiring increased strength and resistance to pull-out forces. For projects that prioritize accuracy and long-lasting quality, screws may be the preferred option, though nails remain a dependable and efficient choice.

For maximum stability, install grab bars on wall studs, as this will adequately support the weight. However, if you don't have access to studs, you can get by with wall anchors. If opting for the latter, choose specialty hollow wall anchors.

No rules state how much of a load-bearing wall can be removed. Rather, you need to adequately support any area that is removed. Support should always be added to as much wall area is being removed. Failing to support the area properly will result in structural damage.

It’s sometimes safe to replace a load-bearing wall with a beam, but you need a structural engineer to sign off on the project. You’ll also likely have to upgrade to a steel I-beam or another material that’s stronger than wood to maintain the level of support you need without the wall underneath.
