"I am so lucky I found David!! As a new first time homeowner I was simply overwhelmed with all of the projects we needed to take on both large and small. David has been communicative, considerate, and so helpful throughout the process of meeting, estimating, and getting to work on our list of projects ranging from interior painting, drywall repair, flooring installation, structural improvements, patching screens, installing appliances, and more. I really appreciate how he walks me through processes I'm not familiar with and makes suggestions- so helpful for a new homeowner who is out of her depth! David and his crew got to work quickly, show up on time, and do flawless work with a smile. Prices are very reasonable and estimates are clear with no surprises. We love working with David and his team and he will be our go to for all of our projects in the future!"

"Sunny did a great job! I ordered 3 tables and they were delivered in boxes unassembled. Too intimidating for me. He assembled them quickly and cleaned up the area after. I will hire him again."

"Basement stairs were coming loose from the landing. Lemar re-attached stairs to landing even more securely than they were originally and he installed new vinyl plank flooring on the landing as I requested. He also cleaned up, sanded and re-painted threshold outside of the door, as I requested. Everything was done in a timely and professional manner and the work looks very good. Will have Lemar back for more work in the future."

"He diagnosed the problem incorrectly and we had ordered the part on his instructions and had to return it. He charged $100 just to set foot in the house and this money did not go towards the labor. He was going to return and install the part, charging another $100, but we called another contractor who gave us the correct diagnosis and came out and did the repair."

"Al did a magnificent job on our home - he turned an ugly duckling into a beautiful swan! His craftsmanship, attention to detail, and professionalism are unmatched. He has a great artistic sense and helped us pick the right colors and type of siding. His trimwork around the windows, doors, and roof line looks outstanding and nicely offsets the details of the home. He even went the extra mile by repairing damage to a wall caused by a bee infestation and installing a new back door. He was great to work with and was always available to discuss the project. We would not hesitate to invite him back for other projects - we already have one in mind!"

Fire Pit Installation questions, answered by experts

A smoke alarm that beeps periodically, often every 30 to 60 seconds, usually indicates a low battery. The first step is to replace the battery. If this doesn't solve the problem, try resetting the alarm. However, beeping can also signal other issues, such as dust buildup in the sensors or the unit reaching the end of its life. Different beep patterns can mean different things; for example, multiple beeps might indicate an issue with a combination carbon monoxide detector, while a continuous, loud alarm means smoke has been detected. If a new battery doesn't stop the beeping, it's best to consult your alarm's manual, call a professional, or replace the unit.

If your oven is new, then it’s likely that the oven smoking is due to it being a new unit. In this case, you don’t need to worry about the oven smoking. However, if your oven is old, you can’t identify any burnt food or grease that could be behind the smoking, or you have concerns about the heating element, then you should hire an oven technician to inspect your unit.

Your smoke detector might be too high in some homes or circumstances to reach yourself. If you feel unsafe getting on a ladder to replace your hardwired smoke detector, call a licensed electrician or local handyman to knock this project off your to-do list. If you have a battery-operated smoke detector, your local fire department can change the batteries or help you replace the detector—just make sure you call the non-emergency number.

In any case, do not let this project go unresolved, as it could turn into a huge safety issue.

You should change the batteries in your smoke detectors at least once per year. Mark it on your calendar or make it a holiday or birthday tradition so that you always remember it. You should also be testing your smoke alarms monthly to ensure they’re working properly and can alert you in case of an emergency.

You can’t gauge the lifetime of a fire door like you could, say, an engine. Fire doors should be checked at least once every six months to ensure there are no signs of degradation like leaks, holes, water damage, termite damage, or anything else that might compromise the functionality of the door’s fire resistance. Check your smoke detectors while you’re at it.
