"After the recent storms my siding was knock loose and part of my gutters were falling off. There was a water leak in my bedroom. J. Parker Contracting was able to come out within a week of contacting them and complete the job. The team that came was prompt and professional. The work that they performed was completed on time and for a reasonable price. They cleaned up after the job was complete. Although, I hope I won't need their services again (no one likes a leaking house!). I would definitely recommend them to anyone and would use their services again."

"Anthony and his team did a great job replacing my damage stucco. Anthony came out quickly to look at the damage and to figure out where water was getting in. He and his team showed up quickly to complete the work. I would highly recommend Derrytresk Plastering and Stucco for any stucco projects."

"The two men who did the job went above and beyond. They were there to replace some siding and repair a window frame, but they left the porch and surrounding area 100 percent cleaner and neater than it was when they arrived. I would highly recommend Patriot to anyone looking for a good home repair company. They also arrived on time which is a big deal!"

Siding questions, answered by experts

DIY is possible, but professional installation ensures weatherproofing, insulation, and proper fastening.

Siding underlayment varies based on the type of material, but most siding is installed on top of a vapor barrier, a moisture-resistant house wrap, sheathing made from plywood or oriented strand board (OSB), and a layer of insulation sheeting. Having the correct underlayment is a critical part of properly installing siding and will protect your home from water intrusion, structural damage, and energy loss.

Stucco siding is the most energy-efficient option on its own, but you can choose insulated vinyl, insulated metal, or insulated brick or stone facade siding that improves energy efficiency even further. These options include a layer of foam insulation under the siding to reduce heat transfer between your living space and the exterior. If you live in a particularly sunny climate, a reflective option like insulated steel or aluminum siding can maximize efficiency.

The best types of siding to withstand hail are fiber cement siding and engineered wood siding. Fiber cement siding is known for impact resistance, while some brands of engineered wood siding can withstand hail as big as 1 and 3/4 inches with no marks. Vinyl and aluminum siding are the most susceptible to hail.

Yes, it is common for mold to grow on the underside of the siding due to the moist atmosphere. When there is an abundance of moisture, mold has the ideal environment to spread and thrive. This fungus can be found on virtually any surface, both indoors and outdoors. Generally, it is most active when the environment is warm, damp, and humid.
