You can wallpaper and paint over certain types of wallpaper, but it’s usually a better idea to remove it first. Removing the wallpaper and prepping the wall before painting is a good way to guarantee a smooth finish that looks professional. There are four main types of caulk, and acrylic latex caulk is one of the most reliable caulking materials for painting over without fear of cracked paint. Avoid painting over silicone caulking.

Shades of blue, green, lavender, and brown can all evoke a sense of calm when used as bedroom paint colors. Blues and greens are traditionally associated with rest and relaxation, but soothing lavenders and rich browns can also be visually soothing to allow you a good night’s sleep.

Newer paint cans often come with an “easy pour” spout with a twist lid. These can be tricky to open, but the key is to grip the spout cover with your fingers and twist it counter-clockwise. There should be a raised ridge in the middle to make it easy to grab. For more standard twist lids, you can try prying the lid off by turning it with your hands, as you would a jar, or running it under warm water.
