"Hi Mr. [Member Name Removed], We are very sorry to see your review. We do not have a record of you calling last week. We have three employees who answer our phones. Might we ask who you spoke with? Or maybe you left a message. We can’t find a record of it. Regardless, we absolutely do our best to process all of our many leads in a timely, efficient and professional manner. It is the life blood of our contracting business! In the event there was an unfortunate mistake made in our office, please allow us to contact you to schedule your free estimate. Please realize we process several thousand leads each year. Once or twice a year something may fall through the cracks out of human error but we don’t make a practice of it and we have safe guards in place to make sure it does not happen. There is a small chance something unusual happened last week as two of our employees who answer the phones were sick on the same day. We did our best to handle the phone volume with an understaffed office. We thought we did it well. So there is a potential this unfortunate event caused the mistake. Again we are very sorry if we made a mishap and we ask you to kindly remove your grade of an F. It does not reflect who we are as a company even if we dropped the ball somehow on your call. We do not know at this point if we dropped the ball but we assure we care and we take this very seriously. Again we are sorry for your experience. Sincerely, Team Sobrinski"
The challenge we faced was in the communication with the office. When I arrived home on the day the work was supposed to have been performed, nothing had been done. I called and left a message because it was after hours. The next morning, without anyone calling me back, the crew showed up to do the work. They were surprised no one had called me to let me know about the change and apologized.
In the long run this wasn't a big deal because the project was relatively small, outside, and I didn't need to be home. It's likely one person's failure to make a phone call or two was the cause of this whole experience, so I'd be willing to give them another chance on future projects given the quality.
We highly recommend this company.
The workers that came jackhammered the existing stairs just fine. Then they built the forms, and poured concrete. After the stairs were poured, and dried over the weekend, I got up the courage to call Sobrinsky and ask if he would look at the quality of work. My gut told me there was a problem. After consulting with another contractor, we confirmed that there was too much honeycombing, the bull-noses were not even or straight like the stairs immediately adjacent. Some of the stairs were bowed. And the molds were cut incorrectly, so that the bullnose didn't go back as far as they needed to.
On Monday morning I had a meeting with the supervisor. He listened to my complaints, and said he would set up a meeting with the owner for later that day. At the meeting with the owner, Mr. Sobrinski, along with the supervisor and the workers, I pointed out the flaws that I could see on the stairs. Mr. Sobrinski said I had 'minor cosmetic problems' that could be fixed. I disagreed, as did an associate of mine that I had invited to help me voice my opinion at this meeting. My associate, and I, felt that the forms were not cut correctly, the bullnose would not stand the test of time and would crumble within a year or two, stairs were bowed, and overall looked amateur next to the stairs next door.
Mr. Sobrinski said, "I guess there is nothing more we can do for you". I said he could jackhammer them out. His reply was slow, louder than the first response, and clear, "THERE IS NOTHING MORE WE CAN DO FOR YOU". I asked for my deposit back, he agreed, and I said, "No hard feelings. It just didn't work out". His reply "Not a lot of good feelings". I didn't see the need to be rude. He didn't validate that the work wasn't up to first class standards. He basically raised his voice, and implied that this was my fault. I think he felt I was being rude to his worker. I was just trying to point out why I didn't want the work to continue, and the reason I wanted my deposit back. It was unfortunate that I had to detail my points of dissatisfaction in front of the guy who did the work, but he was present at both meetings, and I was unsatisfied with the quality. 10 days later Mr. Sobrinski did refund my deposit.
The whole exchange left me bewildered, and offended, as well as needing to find a new contractor to start over on my stairs. I know these things happen, but I didn't feel the customer service was great.
