"Recently we hired Ardmore to replace the glass in 2 of our skylights and install a new storm door. Other than rain delays the skylights were installed in less than 2 hours as Ardmore sent 2 crews for the installation. They even came inside to vacuum any debris that might have fallen into the house during the installation. (5 out of 5). The installation of the storm doors was different. It took over 10 hours for 2 men to finish the installation which I felt was excessive and felt they didn't do the installation correctly. The difference between a good company and a better company is how well they fix a problem and to this point they are doing a better job. When I called to complain the scheduler immediately suggested they send out someone to inspect the work and within 3 days someone came out and fixed 2 out of the 3 problems and said someone would be calling me and ordering a replacement part to fix the 3rd problem"

"Excellent Experience! Jack repaired a basement door installation on Weds Oct. 13, 21. He took a jagged, an uneven, horrid hack job door installation and turned it into a work-of-art. Jack fitted the door inside the frame evenly and smoothly. The door now easily, effortlessly opens. I can now successfully enter and leave my garage. It looks beautiful and finished. Jack has years of experience, he is SKILLED, he is PROFESSIONAL, COURTEOUS, RESPECTFUL, he works QUICKLY, QUIETLY, and NEATLY. He cleans up following his work...affordable, same-day service, called in the morning, Jack finished in the afternoon. I am satisfied and I am happy...no more worries, I am no longer upset! I will recommend EZ Door 2000 to friends and family. I recommend EZ Doors 2000 to YOU! Hire them, use them...well, if you want the job done right!"

"We had a great experience with Grayboyes for our window and front door install. They were professional, timely, and the installation process was quick. We’ve enjoyed using their services that a year after our first project, we called them again for additional window replacements on another part of the house."

Window Door Contractors questions, answered by experts

The cost ultimately depends on size, but roughly, the most popular screen materials will set you back anywhere from around $0.25 to over $25 per square foot. Fiberglass and aluminum are usually less expensive at around $0.25 to $0.70 per square foot. Solar screens cost about $7.50 to $15 per square foot, while security screens range from around $10 to $25 per square foot.

No, it’s not safe to leave a doggy door open. It might be more convenient, especially at night when you just want to lay in bed. However, when you leave it open, it increases the chance of other critters getting in without your knowledge. Also, it leaves your pup unsupervised for hours at a time.

Screen doors have a positive ROI because of their safety features. They add protection from debris, critters, and, depending on the material, even heat. However, storm doors are better than screen doors when it comes to overall protection.

Most window screens last for about 10 to 12 years, assuming they are made from quality materials and receive proper care. The lifespan of common materials like fiberglass and aluminum can vary based on weather exposure, as constant sun or harsh winters can accelerate wear and tear. Regular cleaning and basic maintenance can help extend their life. Signs that a screen needs to be replaced include rips, tears, brittle or sagging material, fading, or a bent frame. While small tears can often be repaired, larger areas of damage typically mean it's time to replace the entire screen.

The screen on many screen doors is held in place by screen spline. Screen spline is typically a thin vinyl tubing that fits into the groove of the door’s frame and holds the screen in place. To install the spline on a screen door, you’ll need a spline roller—a tool that presses the spline and screen into the door’s narrow groove. Note that old spline can crack and break, so replacing your screens is a good time to replace the spline, too.
