"I wouldnâ t go near anyone else for insulation. Andrewâ s price was much lower and his expertise much higher. Andrew spray-foamed our ~4,000-square-foot home. His bid came in some $5,000 less than competitors, partly because as he convincingly showed me, other insulators are typically spraying far more than needed. I also did not want to spray directly on our 1880s-era wood siding or sheathing as spray foam is notorious for trapping moisture and leading to rot in wood. But he figured out a solution to create a 1-inch air gap behind the spray foam to allow that wood siding to dry out when moist. He also knew other insulation options and really with that above solution, I think we ended up with the best possible insulation for our historic house. To do this Job would have required me to have additional projectsâ replace aluminum siding, and holes would be in paneling which was wallpapered over.
