Customers say: Super punctual

"Insulwise came highly recommended by Aeroseal for insulating our attic and garage ahead of winter. Brady, during the initial consultation, thoroughly discussed various insulation phases based on our budget. We decided on blown-in cellulose for both spaces. The team, Pat, Andrew, and Justin impressed us with their professionalism and completed the project efficiently in just 4 days. Andy also showed up a couple days to ensure everything was to our satisfaction. Their attention to detail in boosting insulation levels was evident, and it significantly improved the overall comfort of our home, maintaining consistent temperatures even during external temperature drops. While Insulwise wasn't the most budget-friendly option, their expertise and exceptional service make them our top recommendation for anyone seeking high-quality insulation solutions. Choose Insulwise for a job well done."

"This company cares. They put people above profit. I was in a bad situation, after a nasty winter my roof seemed to be disintegrating before my eyes. It went really fast. Then Daryl stepped up to help me out of a difficult situation. Within hours they expedited the crew, and Walter and Lauren ordered materials and made my roof a priority. Now with three days of rain coming I know my house is protected and it looks gorgeous."

"They responded quickly, gave me a terrific price, and came the next week to install the gutters. We had been calling several other companies, and either no one returned our calls, or they needed us to wait weeks or months to have the project done. I highly recommend this company."

"I wouldnâ t go near anyone else for insulation. Andrewâ s price was much lower and his expertise much higher. Andrew spray-foamed our ~4,000-square-foot home. His bid came in some $5,000 less than competitors, partly because as he convincingly showed me, other insulators are typically spraying far more than needed. I also did not want to spray directly on our 1880s-era wood siding or sheathing as spray foam is notorious for trapping moisture and leading to rot in wood. But he figured out a solution to create a 1-inch air gap behind the spray foam to allow that wood siding to dry out when moist. He also knew other insulation options and really with that above solution, I think we ended up with the best possible insulation for our historic house. I can tell his business is going to do very well in Ohio Valley & Pittsburgh area and wish him the best moving forward."

"Dealing with Casey Insulation was great. They installed attic and garage insulation at my daughterâ s home in one day, and were meticulous in protecting exposed areas and in cleaning up, even though there was little to no mess. Owner Bob Casey is hands-on in the process, even stopping by on the install day to check the work. His son, Sean, explained the process and showed me the attic results when finished, which I appreciated. I highly recommend this company for anyoneâ s home insulation needs."

"It was a pleasure dealing with Mincin and the final result made it worth the expenditure. They did cellulose attic insulation as well as dense packing the floor of an addition from its crawl space. Quite a difference!"

"I could not be more happy with Koala of NW PA. Note that I live in Pittsburgh, but Koala of NW PA has taken over the service area down here. I had a poor experience with the former Koala franchise owner in the Pittsburgh area (they bid a job for blown-in insulation, I paid a deposit, and then when they came to do the work, said there was no air gap and thus the job couldnt be done and they would not give me a full refund of the deposit. I thus held a "credit" to be used. I explicitly avoided recommending Koala to friends after this experience. When Koala NW took over the area, they proactively reached out to me and asked to come down and see what work they might be able to do to help. While I could not get blown-in insulation, they found several other places such as my attic, attic access panel, rim joists, and other air gaps going up from my basement that they could seal. They promptly gave estimates and responded to feedback. The estimate for work done was modified to match my existing credit as a customer service gesture. When they came to do the work it was professional and simple. They communicated well before, during, and after the project. They pointed out issues that they noticed during the installation and we quickly made adjustments. I have already been recommending the new Koala owners to friends in my area. Their customer service is many times better than the old owners and I highly recommend them."

Insulation questions, answered by experts

You can insulate an existing garage door. But while it’s a cost-effective option upfront, it may not perform as well as a garage door that comes with insulation. If you live in a colder climate—or if you plan on working in your garage and need a new door—you should purchase one with existing insulation for better efficiency.

The amount and type of insulation your home needs depends on your location, climate, and the specific installation area (attic, walls, or floors). Your local building code will typically determine the minimum required R-value. For specific recommendations, Energy Star suggests the following R-values: homes in the Southern U.S. should have R30 to R60 in attics and R13 to R25 in floors and walls; homes in moderate climates need R38 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls; and homes in northern states require R49 to R60 in attics and R25 to R30 in floors and walls.

Insulating ductwork improves your HVAC system's energy efficiency by protecting the air from external conditions and preventing energy loss as it travels through the ducts. This means your system doesn't have to work as hard to heat or cool your home, leading to lower energy bills and a reduced carbon footprint. Additionally, insulated ducts help maintain a more consistent and stable indoor temperature, enhancing comfort. Proper insulation also improves indoor air quality by reducing the entry of allergens and pollutants and helps prevent problems like condensation and mold formation within the ductwork.

As long as a licensed professional installs your gas lines, you don’t have to do anything extra to prepare for cold weather. If there are pipes that require a wrap, your installer should have done it for you already. If you want to be absolutely sure your gas system is good to go for winter, the best option is to schedule a gas line inspection.

While fiberglass is dangerous to work with, it’s a perfectly safe material once it’s installed. If you’re tackling the installation yourself, make sure you take the proper safety precautions and wear the right gear to avoid skin and eye irritation and lung complications. Working with a professional insulation company can mitigate these risks.
