"The installers?Noah, Matt, & Pierce? were terrific. Skilled, courteous, and exceedingly clean. Five stars for them. The initial contacts with the company were the problem. The salesperson Brandon was over-the-top pushy and condescending and subjected me to four hours of nonstop high-pressure sales pitches. I was required to make selections on flooring, fixtures, etc., without seeing actual samples. It wasn?t until a week later that another employee mentioned in passing that I could visit a showroom and see samples. This resulted in many changes, some of which were made, some not. End result is a bathroom that was well constructed, but contains some things I wouldn?t have chosen had I been given better information at the outset and not been subjected to such an unpleasant and unprofessional salesperson."

"Absolutely Appalling Service and Shoddy Workmanship from GIMA - A $30,000 Mistake! Initially, we were quite pleased with the bathroom and kitchen remodel GIMA completed a couple of years ago, for which we paid $30,000. Fast forward to a few months ago, and our positive experience vanished. We discovered a leak from our shower, impacting the wall to our room. GIMA came out, diagnosed it incorrectly (claiming it was the shower handle), and even though our warranty had expired, we were willing to pay. We put down a $200 deposit for a discounted repair. That was three months ago. GIMA never returned to fix the leak. A manual tile cutter or snap cutter works well for the larger tiles that wet saws are typically used for, while smaller projects might just require nippers or a glass cutting wheel. If you’re working with large quantities of tile, however, power tools are best.

No, tiling over painted walls or wallpapered surfaces is generally not recommended. Textured surfaces and paints will affect the adhesive, possibly causing tiles to lift or fall off. Painted walls with a semi-gloss or high-gloss finish are particularly difficult for adding tiles. It’s wise to strip the paint first if you install the tiles to drywall, although it’s still best to opt for a cement backer board.

Granite floor installation takes two to five days for an average-sized room, depending on the area size, complexity, and whether additional preparation work is required. Don’t use non-vitreous tiles, or tiles fired at low temperatures, because they will absorb more water. If you use a highly porous tile in the shower, the tiles can wear down faster, meaning they’ll need to be replaced much sooner.

Quartz is more durable than granite, so it should last longer. However, it does have one weakness: It can be damaged by extreme heat, so exercise caution with cooking pans. Granite is durable, but it’s also porous, which invites stains when liquids are left sitting on a countertop. With this in mind, clean up spills promptly and reseal the countertops every year. Beyond that, granite can be damaged by a high-impact blow.
