"Cory and Colton arrived on the time schedule, did a survey on the apartment and quickly started moving the furniture. They were very professional and did the best they could to finish as early as possible."

"An excellent job! Very professional! They were quick to respond to my initial message. They scheduled the move for the same day. When a previous job ran long, they contacted me that they would be about twenty minutes late. Before entering my home, they made sure that their shoes were clean, Then they carefully moved the new desk, set it exactly where I wanted it, and removed the manufacturer's wrapping. All and all, quick, efficient and at a good price. I intend to call Affordable Guys Moving for similar jobs in the future and will recommend them to my neighbors.  "

"Owner Jason Brody responded quickly to our request for a quote. He touched base with us before the move and his three-man moving team arrived a little early on moving day. They were professional, courteous, and careful with our belongings. They made quick work of moving a house full of goods into an apartment building on a day when only 1 of 2 elevators was working. We would highly recommend a Brody Moving!"

"I was in search for movers to help me and my family move to NC. I didn't feel like doing the move myself this time around and sure I found this company OM Van Lines last minute. I was offered a great deal to get my move done and it wasn't as expensive as I thought I was going to be. My wife and family are happy and just wanted to say thank you guys. You guys made this a very pleasant experience. Highly recommend."

Moving questions, answered by experts

To prepare furniture for moving, detach furniture legs if possible. If the legs must stay on, wrap them with foam wrap or taped blankets to help prevent damage. You can also buy dedicated moving “socks” for furniture legs.

It’s not required. Some treadmills aren’t designed for dismantling, so you’ll need to move in one piece. Others can be quickly disassembled and reassembled, so taking them apart is a great way to save on space and make the move easier. Consult your treadmill’s user manual for more information and to find the best option.

The best bet for most large items is a four-wheel dolly, but it depends on the size and shape of the couch. This tool provides extra stability for heavy loads and enhances maneuverability, which is useful when squeezing through a narrow doorway. Additionally, four-wheel designs reduce the effort required to move the dolly, which minimizes the number of required helpers.

It’s typically not advisable to move heavy furniture by yourself. However, if you are confident that you can do it safely, there are several different tools you can use, including a hand truck, a four-wheel dolly, or an appliance dolly. If you’re moving furniture upstairs or downstairs, a hand truck is the most suitable choice. Regardless of what you choose to use, always ensure that the furniture is well-balanced and secure by using lifting straps or tie-down straps to keep it in place.

Moving pods are most often available in three sizes: 8, 12, and 16 feet. To move a four-bedroom house, you’ll likely need two 16-foot moving pods. Of course, the exact answer depends more on your house’s square footage and the amount of belongings you have than on the number of bedrooms in the house. For example, moving a small four-bedroom house may only require one 16-foot pod and one 8-foot pod, but moving a large four-bedroom house may require more than two 16-foot pods.
