Small jobs welcome

"We met to discussed the project the same day I was referred to him. He provided a price quote which was acceptable. Work was scheduled for the next day since he had an opening in his schedule. The job was professionally done in all respects. After the outside of the house was washed, it looks beautiful. Bob G in the village of Mt. Airy--5 miles from Ephrata, PA."

"I had the attic of a rental property converted into two bedrooms which needed framing, hanging sheet rock, base board molding installed and handing doors. Tom was able to fit me into his schedule and complete the work with-in 2 weeks. He came back quickly fixed a few misunderstandings as to what my expectations were and it looks great. I am excited about the finished project. I would contract out with him again."

"Luis and his son did an amazing job. They powerwashed and stained my deck and brought new lift to it. Then while digging to create a patio situation under the deck, they found the deck did not have concrete footers holding it up! They created the concrete footings to fix and secure the deck. These men are thorough and professional and I would highly recommend to anyone!"

"Bill Staniscia was responsive, professional, and performed quality work. He had to remove bushes and a cracked sidewalk. He is studded out the frame for the larger sidewalk to the house. He laid stone for the foundation and his son tamped it. Then they poured the cement. I love it!!. It is beautiful and makes the curb appeal better. Thank you, Bill!"

Carpentry questions, answered by experts

It's possible to turn your carport into a living space, but there are additional factors to address over turning it into a garage. HVAC, plumbing, and electricity won't be optional, and you'll need finished flooring, drywall, trim work, and legal ceiling height, for starters. Also, keep in mind that living space conversions may require upgrading the foundation underneath, and the permits might be more expensive as well.

Yes, using certified lumber and engineered wood products for reduced environmental impact.

House framing can be expensive because the materials are pricey, and the job requires a high level of expertise. The more complex the plans, the more expensive the job, but even the most basic frame needs to be installed with high-quality materials and precision. When pricing your home’s framework, remember that a sturdy frame is necessary to create a safe structure.

A few signs that you need a new door frame include:

  • The door no longer fits properly in its frame and sticks or scrapes.

  • You notice cracks, holes, or rotting.

  • You feel a draft coming from around the door when it’s closed.

  • You find yourself frequently needing to make repairs.

Bump-out additions can add some space to a closet without requiring any significant structural work. This entails pushing back the existing rear or side of the closet, simply moving the wall into either an adjacent room or unused space. For ground-floor closets, this could even be extended to the exterior of the home, but that has its own complications. Bump-outs are a good discussion to have with your contractor if you’re just looking to increase the space a little—not renovate the entire closet space.
