"Two professional installers. Done in one day.  If only one person had been there for the install it would have been a 2.5 day job. With two people the job was completed in one day. I bought their recommended Amana furnace/AC. They were personable and interacted well when I had questions. If one person had been there it would have been a 2.5 day job. The unit worked the first time they turned it on and is a significant improvement. At the end of the job they thoroughly cleaned the area. And no up front money which indicated a well run business.
I had been told about other people who installed furnaces but I am confident that they were horror stories waiting to happen. This job required experienced workers. I may have paid more, but I may have ended up with a low quality (cheaper) unit as well as delays while the installer dealt with personal issues or disappeared.
This is the third time I have used Giant and each instance was totally satisfactory.
Note: I typed a more detailed review but this site caused text to disappear for no obvious reason.

"It was okay. They were good but what I didn’t like about was when they came, they were upselling on everything. I just wanted the normal deal. There is the actual furnace but they wanted to have a couple of hundred dollars more. That type of thing. I understand that they wanted to get more but it’s kind of annoying. I wasn’t home but my wife was there. They were friendly. They covered the service but they told me that I need this one and this one. I had to meet them in the middle. It was a hundred dollars more than what the original deal was. I don’t have any issue with the wait time. They were pretty good about that. My schedule was more of an issue and they were a little responsive. I would tell family members and friends to call them first and make sure that they understand how much the total cost is going to be. That way, you have a full understanding of what you’re going into and you’re not negotiating while they’re there. There was no unexpected issue, only the amount. In the previous year, they did a number of vents or two different lines that they had to clean. I knew there would be a couple. They’ll tell you in the big deal that they will clean 10 vents and the main line. I knew there were a little bit more because I have more vents than the deal covers, but then they’ll say why you should have this clean too. I don't recall the exact terminology but other than that everything was fine. The service was clean and fine. It’s just the negotiation part that I don’t like. The negotiation price has been upfront. The quality is good as the top thing. It’s something that you don’t see. As far as I’m aware, we are breathing clean air. I didn’t have any issue with that."

"It went well. Lloyd arrived on time and provided an estimate of the service, including both $ and time he expected it to take to complete. He came back to complete the work. A little over a week later, he came back because the fireplace wasn't working quite as I had hoped. He changed some of the wiring so now it works perfectly."

Home Crafters are very professional.  They were the first, after I had called 20-25 roofers, to actually call me back and give me an estimate.  They told me that they would not be the cheapest but they would do the work by the end of the year like I wanted and do a professional job.

The main roof of the house had cracked shingles and looked ragged.  There were no leaks nor evidence of water leakage inside.  It had 2 layers of shingles on it.

Their estimate included:
- removal of existing material to roof decking,
- inspect deck and replace boards if required for an extra charge,
- Install 30 lb roofing felt,
- install 30 linear feet of ice and water sheild,
- install all new flashing,
- install new 30 year shingles,
- Install new aluminum fascia in front,
- install new aluminum gutter in front.

Total cost was to be $ 8225.00.

The main reason I did not hire them was that I could not get over the fact that installing the gutter added $ 900.00 to the total cost. I thought gutter installation should have been cheaper.  It turns out that if I would have hired them I would have had the work done by December like I wanted instead of January-February.

I would definitely give these guys a chance in the future. They seem like real professionals.

"Jim did a great job. He quickly assessed the problem and then took our unit with him to work on it more. When he got back to us, the fix would have cost more than it was worth. He gave us options for a new or refurbished PC. We felt the refurbished was a good deal and chose that. He came back and set that up and we are very happy with it. He then took a look at my laptop and again took it along. He tuned it up and installed a speed upgrade we wanted. Of course, we paid extra for the new unit and upgrades, but we thought the price was very fair. Jim seemed very knowledgeable and responsive. We will definitely call him again if we need any computer services."

"The owner, Les Dukehart, managed all of the subcontractors efficiently. He oversaw the daily progress, and produced an excellent set of two new rooms. We are delighted with the value and the rapid completion of this large project."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

A furnace is a big unit where gas, heating oil, or electricity heats the air. The warmed air is then pushed back out through ducts and vents.

A boiler uses electricity, heating oil, or gas to heat water that is pushed into the room through a radiator. This is one of the oldest and most effective ways to heat a house, but radiators can also be unsightly and leave hot and cold spots in the room.

Heat pumps use a refrigerant to move heat from outside into the house and return it to the room through ducts and vents.

Boilers provide even heating, energy efficiency, and a quiet operation compared to forced air systems.

The cost-efficiency of baseboard heaters depends on the type and how you use them. Generally, standard electric baseboard heaters can be expensive to run because they use electric resistance heating, which is less energy-efficient than systems like forced-air or heat pumps. However, hydronic and gas versions are typically much cheaper to operate. Hydronic models are more energy-efficient because they heat a liquid that retains warmth longer, preventing the thermostat from turning on and off as often. The overall running cost is also influenced by local electricity rates, your home's insulation, and your usage habits. To increase efficiency, you can use baseboard heaters for zoning, meaning you only heat the specific rooms you are using.

Coolant and antifreeze are technically not the same thing. The difference between the two is the ratio of water to other chemicals. True antifreeze is mainly made up of either ethylene glycol or propylene glycol, while coolant comprises one part antifreeze and one part water. However, the terms coolant and antifreeze are often used interchangeably, even by pros.

No, boilers and water heaters are not interchangeable because they serve different primary functions. Boilers are used for central heating systems, providing hot water or steam to heat your home. In contrast, a water heater's purpose is to supply hot water for daily household use, such as for faucets and showers. A water heater alone cannot supply the warm water or steam needed for a central heating system.

While they are not interchangeable, it is common to have both a boiler and a water heater. In fact, a conventional boiler often works best when a water heater system is already in place. The two systems can be combined to provide both heating and hot water, either by pairing a boiler with an indirect water heater or by installing a premade combination boiler-water heater unit. For home heating, some homeowners may also opt for a furnace instead of a boiler.
