Gas furnace wasn't igniting. A technician came out and said that it was probably the thermostat. So he tears apart the Nest thermostat that I had just purchased a month prior (and that was working perfectly fine) and replaces it with some generic Honeywell junk, which cost me as much as the high tech Nest thermostat. Okay, fine, the furnace fires up, all seems to be well.
Well... not so fast. A few days later, the furnace stops igniting, again. This time, I go down to the basement, flip the power on the furnace, and sure enough, it ignites. So not only had I flushed $204 on this new piece of junk thermostat, my Nest thermostat is in pieces, and the furnace is not igniting, at least not without me taking manual intervention.
So... I tell the guy to come back and fix it correctly this time. He spends about 20 minutes "cleaning" it out. He said that if it happens again, it might be a myriad of different things that could cost $2000, or I might just have to replace the whole d*** furnace for $8000.
Well, it looks like the "cleaning" did not work, as I'm now sitting in a cold house, and even my attempts to power cycle the furnace are not working, it just clicks and doesn't ignite. Oh, and I'm still out my $204, I still have the piece of junk thermostat that I did not want, and my Nest thermostat is still in pieces.
I am not about to call this guy back to have him scratch his head and have no clue what the problem is. I suggest you do the same and go elsewhere, cause the guys they send out don't even know how to fix a furnace, let alone even know how a Nest thermostat works. I get it's all "high tech" and whatnot, but come on, this is your career, at least take some attempt to know how other products besides the generic Honeywell thermostat work. And when you realize that you charged someone for a thermostat that they did not need, you should have the decency to refund their money and reinstall their original thermostat.
Bottom line, go elsewhere and find a professional that knows how to troubleshoot a problem and resolve it. These guys are a bunch of amateurs.

It went well but he couldn't fix the problem. Jeff came within half an hour and looked at the furnace. He ran several diagnostic tests and determined that I need a new circuit board. He isn't a certified Trane dealer so he wouldn't be able to get the part until Monday so he recommended that I call someone else. He didn't charge me and was professional. I would definitely call him again when I need a new furnace.

He called before hand ans showed up on time. The 2 service men were courteous and professional. They found the problem quickly, fixed it.

The owner was courteous and timely on providing the initial quote and real down to earth on explaining how things work. He was very honest about options such as efficiency ratings and didn't try to sell me the most expensive option and was frank about how the money for the high end units would likely be better spent in some type of investment.
During the install, they had to make some changes on the fly due to the cramped space where the furnace is located in our split level home. He made sure to run the proposed changes by me first prior to changing plans.
He is very knowledgeable and seems to be quite conscious of the customers budget so I will certainly use him in the future and recommend him to my friends and coworkers.

He's a great guy, I would definitely recommend him to others. I've used him for 6 years and never had any problems. His prices are very reasonable as well.
