"Our experience with Geno's Siding & Roofing Co. was great. Geno responded promptly, and scheduled a visit to look the job over. We had leaks around the windows in our laundry room. Geno advised the windows were fine, which we were glad to hear. He said he could remove the trim, and then install new aluminum casing around the windows. He also said he could install an aluminum sill sloped away from the windows. Russell (the technician) did a fantastic job. The result was better than I imagined it would look. We will definitely be contacting Geno when we need more work done."

"I would highly recommend American Roofing & Remodeling. The job came out perfect and the guys that work for American Roofing were very nice and above all were very neat and tidy. They left the outside of my house looking better than when they got there. The price that I received from the start was very fair and he assured me he would be using the best materials he could. "Joe is one of the most pleasant and knowledgeable men I have ever met. I have been in the real estate business for over 31 years, during that time a lot of roofing problems arose. Furring strips (also called wood stripping) are not always necessary for a metal roof installation, but they are highly recommended and may be required by local building codes or the roofing manufacturer's specifications. There are several key reasons to use them:

  • Structural Support: They provide a solid, even frame to which you can attach the metal roofing panels.

It is especially important to use furring strips when installing a metal roof over existing shingles. Without them, the roof surface can be uneven, and you will experience greater solar heat gain.

The roof overhang, also known as the eaves, does count as part of the roof’s square footage because it must be covered with the roofing material. The overhang is one of the reasons why you can’t base your roof's square footage on the square footage of the house. The roof square footage must also account for the pitch of the roof as well as the eaves.

You can walk on a TPO roof, but you should only do so when necessary and wear footwear that’s less likely to puncture the surface. If you anticipate needing to frequently walk on your TPO roof, reinforce walkways to protect against punctures.
