"I highly recommend PatchMaster. Damon was great to work with in diagnosing the problem and arranging the project, and Josh was a truly skilled craftsman in making our ceiling look better than new. (The options offered above for describing "service/project" are not very broad; our specific project was repairing sections of a living room ceiling that were peeling, and then painting entire ceiling to blend the color.) The job took days longer than estimated due to extra moisture in the air from a recent storm, but PatchMaster stayed with it until the result was perfect (and at no extra cost). "In March 2011, a rock pad was laid as a foundation for our large garage being delivered.  Excellent work performed.  As a result of the impressive, professional job done, we had Rock a Fellas redo our deck in July, 2011.  A re-decking took place with Timbertech decking materials with radiance rails.  This was not an easy job, but Rock was very helpful in offering important advice and opinions on where to select materials etc.  He also took care of ordering the dumpster to haul away debris, a detail which can be overlooked by an overwhelmed customer.  He also rectified any concerns/issues with a prompt, professional manner which ultimately led to our great satisfaction when job was completed.

"Tried to put windows in that did not match the rest of the house. Have tan trim on house tried to put white on did not do good job flashing chimmey looks like crap the roof and siding did a good job did not do the work I paid him to do lots of short cut and not done right. The two most common drywall thicknesses for ceilings are 1/2-inch and 5/8-inch. For most standard residential applications, 1/2-inch drywall is sufficient and widely used. It provides adequate support and is lighter and easier to handle during installation compared to thicker sheets. However, 5/8-inch drywall is often used for specific cases where additional benefits are needed. It is heavier but provides superior sound dampening and fire resistance. You should consider using 5/8-inch drywall for ceilings in commercial buildings, between a garage and a living space, or above a finished basement to meet building codes or for enhanced soundproofing.

It is more difficult to drywall a ceiling than it is to drywall a wall, but not so hard that DIYers can’t tackle it. One of the main issues with hanging drywall on your ceiling is getting it into place. Drywall isn’t light so, if you are hanging full drywall panels, you will need at least two (it’s better with more) people to hold the panel while you drill it into the ceiling as a single piece can weigh between 40 and 60 pounds and will need to be held in place for up to 10 minutes.

There are a few ways to figure out if your walls are plaster or drywall, but the pushpin method is probably the easiest option. To try it, choose a part of your wall where you can insert a pushpin or thumbtack without leaving an obvious mark. If it goes in easily, you have drywall. But if the wall is tough to penetrate, that’s plaster.

Plaster is a beautiful finish but is labor-intensive to install and remove. It’s vulnerable to cracking and more sensitive to moisture variance than drywall. Installing plaster on a new wall is an expensive process that can take days to weeks, depending on the scope. Removing a plaster wall can also be quite expensive and time-consuming.

Applying plaster to a wall will usually cost between $2 and $10 per square foot for both the material and labor. The cost will vary based on the quality of the plaster you’re using and whether or not prep work is required before the work begins. Wall prep can add up to about 10% to your total costs. Plastering exterior walls can be more expensive in many cases because they are taller and require scaffolding and safety equipment.
