"I recently contracted with Holtzople HVAC to replace two systems that were over 20 years old. I researched several manufacturers/local vendors. I selected Holtzople based on their outstanding reviews, Trane-certified/preferred installer status and numerous conversations with the gentleman (Josh) who helped select the systems I needed. Holtzople was able to acquire and install my new systems within a week. The installation team (Andrew, Shane, Eric, and Jake) was nothing short of excellent - very courteous, respectful of my property, privacy, and time. The installation itself was extremely well done and clean - these gentleman were obviously well trained and proficient in their craft. I am very pleased with my purchase and would strongly recommend Holtzople HVAC to friends and family!"

"Everything done exactly right, on schedule (ahead of what I was expecting). AJB quoted a Columbia boiler, which cost a little more than the others, but I believe will be worth it. Worked almost 13 hours the first day and a couple more the next day to get the job done. Cleaned the area and ensured everything was operating properly."

"Called BAE at 5pm, and left a message with their operator. Henry called me back within 5 mins and was at the house within an hour. By 6:15pm my AC was working again -- he quickly diagnosed the problem, had the part in stock (capacitor), and completed the installation. He was professional, skilled, and courteous. Would hire him again in heart beat."

Install Boiler questions, answered by experts

Heat pumps are significantly more efficient than boilers, typically providing three to four times the amount of heat for the electricity they consume. While boilers run on fossil fuels, heat pumps use only electricity. This efficiency can lead to long-term savings on operating and maintenance costs. However, heat pumps have a higher upfront installation price compared to boilers. Despite their lower efficiency, boilers remain a popular choice for many homeowners, with 8 million in the United States alone, due to their lower initial cost and less intensive installation process. Ultimately, the best choice depends on your home's infrastructure, your budget, and your personal heating priorities.

It takes about five to 10 minutes for heat to reach a radiator, then about one hour until the radiator fully heats up a room. The exact duration depends on the size of the room and how far away the radiator is from the boiler heating system. Heating up an entire house could take up to two hours.

The radiators closest in proximity to the boiler heating system will heat up first. Radiators in rooms farther away from the boiler will take longer to heat up and may be the coolest rooms in the house. The radiator unit itself should heat up evenly; otherwise, there may be trapped air inside it.

Generally, an oil furnace is considered safer than a gas furnace for several reasons. While both types of furnaces can produce carbon monoxide, a leak in an oil furnace is easier to detect due to the smell. Oil furnaces also don't connect to a gas pipeline, which reduces the chance of a fuel leak. Most importantly, heating oil is not combustible, whereas natural gas is highly flammable. This means there is a much lower risk of combustion or explosion with an oil furnace. However, an oil furnace can still pose a fire hazard if it tips over.

Warmed or cooled air can escape your home through drafty windows and doors. If you notice any gaps, be sure to caulk and seal them. You can also hire a local pro for an energy audit to get a list of energy-saving recommendations.

Finally, check your insulation. It can settle in over time and become less effective. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that you can save an average of 15% on heating and cooling costs (or 11% of total energy costs) by sealing leaks and making sure attics, crawl spaces, and basements have a nice layer of insulation.
