These include rainwater entering it and causing rust and corrosion, dirt and debris leading to blockages, small animals getting stuck inside and clogging your sewer line or entering your home, and shortening the sewer system’s life span.

The day after Thanksgiving is also a jam-packed day, as people reckon with the issues caused by pushing too much turkey meat down the garbage disposal or other plumbing problems. If you run into a plumbing emergency during Thanksgiving, you can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that plenty of plumbers work on Thanksgiving due to the uptick in demand.

It’ll take 20 to 30 minutes to unclog a sewer line using a drain snake or drain cleaner. If you hire a professional, you should expect them to be on-site for three hours or less. In addition to clearing the clog, they’ll do other routine inspections, which adds to the overall time (and cost) required.

Using less toilet paper is the easiest way to prevent future clogs. Also, avoid flushing sanitary products, thick paper towels, or hair down the toilet.
