Description of Work: Stitching was messed up witch usually is the tension. He made some internal adjustments and machine works fine. I have an 50 year old singer that was my sisters which he replaced gears and cleaned up and a newer one that has been in a couple times. I am so used to the older one I think I mess it up by trying to o manipulate the material instead of letting the machine do it. Lol. Great service great prices. Very professional and pleasant to deal with.

 + -1 moreHe was easy to contact and promptly returned phone calls. His workshop is in his house so arranging times was convenient. He is obviously very familiar with these machines and took the time to explain the problem. When I picked it up, the machine had been carefully wrapped and he included the old gear with broken teeth along with a piece of fabric used for testing. I was very pleased with the experience. A new machine would have been more expensive and, according to a number of sewing machine reviews, much less durable and reliable. I would definitely go to him again but he predicted that it should run well for another 20 years.
Description of Work: I have a 40 year old Singer sewing machine that suddenly stopped working. There are very few places that offer repair service. Tim Grottenthaler runs a home-based operation that is conveniently located for me in Butler. The main gear needed to be replaced. He replaced the gear, checked and tested rest of the machine. The work was complete 3 days later.

 + -1 moreHe is very good and his prices are great too. He works out of his house. I had called other places for a quote but his prices were very reasonable. He replaced a part which was very cheap. I was very pleased with his price. He explains and shows me what he is doing so I know I am not being ripped off.

 + -1 moreTook my sewing machine to Joanne Fabrics. This gentleman is the sub contractor for them. He did the work on the sewing machine and corrected the problem but his professionalism left a lot to be desired. He was close to rude in the phone conversation we had regarding the straight stitch foot which was missing. He insisted it was in the box of attachments. I had the box of attachments in front of me. He insisted it was there though I told him it was not and he did not order the part as I requested.
Description of Work: Repair of sewing machine that would not sew correctly and replacement of straight stitch foot.

 + -1 moreA FEW YEARS AGO, I TOOK MY SEWING MACHINE TO A LOCAL FABRIC STORE. IT WAS A DIFFICULT PROCEDURE TO UNBOLT IT FORM THE CABINET AND I DID NOT GET TO TALK TO THE REPAIRMAN BECAUSE THE MACHINE WAS SHIPPED OUT AND RETURNED TO THE STORE. WHILE THE MACHINE WAS REPAIRED PROPERLY THIS WAS A MUCH BETTER EXPERIENCE WITH THE HOUSE CALL.
Description of Work: The timing on the sewing machine was off and the bobbin thread would not catch and come through would not catch and come through to meet the needle. He fixed this, put on new feet feeders, because improper ones were on from the other repair and did general maintenance and oiling.
