"Excellent, very satisfactory. Radon Brothers' rep came, saw the problem, and replaced the leaking radon exhaust PVC pipe in my basement floor. All in record time. Am very satisfied and will continue using Angi contractors."

"adon After I contacted him, he responded promptly.  While evaluating the area that needed radon mitigation, he called to discuss an area that had not been evaluated by inspectors (not affiliated with him).  After accepting his price, we agreed on the day for the installation.  During the installation, he was respectful and communicative.  After completing the installation, he provided written warranties for me and the buyer.  I highly recommend Keystone Radon Mitigators.

Before starting the work, all details are meticulously explained and priced competitively. After the work is complete, same thing, comprehensive review of what was done. They go the extra mile, and it's obvious they take pride in doing it right and making sure the homeowner is 100% satisfied."

"Neil is fantastic. Similarly to my last experience with him, he was prompt and professional. He had his septic resource properly scheduled, whom came out and did the septic test on time and were great to work with. He again explained everything as he went along, and again got the main home inspection report back to us the same day! He did a larger battery of tests than last time for us, and all results came back in a few days and were explained to us. Again, he offered his services to answer questions unrelated to home inspection if the need arises. We also had some concerns over some attic insulation, which he had tested for asbestos free of charge. I would highly recommend Neil!"

Radon Detection and Reduction questions, answered by experts

Your radon fan needs to operate 24/7 to be effective. The only time the fan isn't operating is during its replacement. Radon levels in the home can increase within hours if the fan stops working or something obstructs the stack vent. Fortunately, radon systems require no downtime maintenance between fan changes.

The soil beneath your house is most likely what’s causing an increased level of radon. This is because soil holds radioactivity for a long time and it’s also what most buildings are built on. Another common source of radon is water from a source that hasn’t been through periodic radon tests, such as well water. Over time, the radon from the soil can inhabit other parts of your house like the foundation or plumbing.

Installation typically takes 1-2 days, depending on the system and property layout.

Your radon mitigation system may be loud because it’s time to replace it. Any sounds are usually from the inline fan that helps create the vacuum and resulting airflow. If you hear a new, loud mechanical or humming noise from your radon fan, it might be time to replace it. Most fans used in radon mitigation systems last up to 10 years, but may need to be replaced sooner.

No level of radon is technically safe, but since it is present everywhere, complete avoidance is impossible. The average radon level in homes across the United States is 1.3 picocuries per liter (pCi/L). The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recommends taking preventative measures if your home's radon levels are between 2 and 4 pCi/L or higher.
